Do Mind Maps work?

Does anyone here use mind maps when preparing for standardised or narrative exams? More importantly, do they work?!

Also been reading about memory castles, pegging etc.

Sounds a bit mystical like The Secret  I know haha, but if it works I will give it a shot. Apparently these are techniques used by memory champions.

My current strategy is to read material and practice questions, but am falling asleep and forget what I prepared by the next day. I am stumped as to how I have passed exams thus far.

Any advice? Thanks =)

Sometimes I try to read and do practice problems but I get lazy and say I’ll do it tomorrow, I do this until one day before the exam and  then cram. Been my strategy since middle school. Just finished taking an Econ exam, didn’t even know I had it till I checked my email lmao.

memory champions use 'memory palaces/loci' more commonly. I read a book called moonwalking with Einstein that talked about it in depth.

everyone has different ways of memorising. for me, I use repetition and force it in to my brain.
