Do you guys play video games?

Curious to see how many of you hardos play video games.

Growing up I used to love them. Some of my fondest memories are playing FIFA or COD with my friends, laughing for hours on end.

Problem is, I just don't have time anymore. Aside from my job, trying to fit in reading, movies, exercise, seeing friends/family, travelling and pursuing non "virtual" hobbies - it feels like I've got no time…

Do you guys play video games, if ever? When/how do you fit them in alongside everything else in life? Especially with our busy careers, which of course take priority.

Agreed.  I think video games are the most fun in middle school, you have enough stomach for anything M-rated, but you also have enough imagination to get immersed in the game.  Adults playing video games take it too seriously, saying shit like "due to recent buffs, the pump shotgun in the new meta".

Man this is a tough question. I do like to game but don't do it as much anymore, only really ever socially -- Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a favorite

Sometimes I'll play a game by myself 1-2x a year in an intense sprint (ex. finishing up Fire Emblem Three Houses in a week after playing like 10 hours a day, usually only possible on vacations when I'm at home) but that's generally about it with solo gaming. I do have a ton of games on the roster that I want to tackle like Pokemon Arceus / Star Wars: KOTR but not sure when I'll get to them. Usually I do this when I summon periods of intense interest & then go on sprints, right now the motivation hasn't found me I guess

Frankly though, I KNOW for a fact that I would get addicted to one form of gaming which is why I don't do it -- PC Gaming. Anything from Age of Empires to the Total War games (both of which I loved when I was in high school) to maybe even LoL & the like. Esp if I was playing with friends, I could literally burn my life playing these games with no self control. If I was in college or even just graduated I'd be willing to be a degenerate & do it but I'm in my mid-20s now and at this point am not willing to make that sacrifice as I get my life together and really think about what I want in the next decade of my life. All power to younger guys enjoying this stuff at the points in your lives that you're in now because it won't be as simple after you enter your mid-late 20s

Like you if I've got free time outside of family and friends, I devote most of it to reading / working out / TV. Maybe I could sub out some of the TV time, because I'm not willing to do sub out the reading (my #1 hobby) / working out. So all said, bit of a rant but I'd say I'm a casual gamer right now. Might turn it into a mid-end gamer type thing at some point but the days of being a 'serious gamer' (if I ever really was one) are certainly behind me

My man...

SSB, KOTR, AoE, not a TW fan, LoL. All you left off is Doom (the 2016 version and follow up Eternal), Warhammer 40k, Half-Life and all the mods (aka CounterStrike. Was playing since Beta 3 and 6.1 was the best), Quake, Borderlands, Command & Conquer.

Total War games

these were and are so fun. I have no self control when it comes to it, so I haven't played in awhile, but the Warhammer ones were really good imo (haven't played the new one or Rome 2 either). Medieval 2 and its expansion packs was probably my favorite one.

I'm the same way. Zero self control if i play anything outside of Clash Royale. I downloaded Battle Bit Remastered when it first came out and was not able to do sessions less than 2 hours at a time... not ideal gaming until 1-2am on a work night smh.

Go all the way

Maybe not technically a video game but I’ve really been getting into online chess. It’s super convenient and helps you become a more strategic thinker. Best part is if you’re on a time crunch, there’s a bullet chess mode where each player only has 1 minute for their moves and if they exceed time they lose. The max a game can last is 2 mins.

Early days of COVID in 2020 were nice because I was able to consistently play Warzone for a few months in a row after work at night to unwind.  As everyone's schedules became unpredictable again, it hasn't happened...think it's been a year plus a few months since I've played.

Also didn't help that I was dogshit.

In 2020 I reconnected with a bunch of old friends via warzone which was great. Hopefully warzone 2 is good.

I played tonnes of pc games growing up (Age of Empires, Half Life, etc) and got into Dota2 massively during uni, to the point that my grades suffered. Didn't play much during my first year out of uni, but with covid I built a new rig and rediscovered gaming. I think it is a great way to engage the brain, get in the zone and completely switch off from day to day. That's why I still enjoy it for an hour or two every night. For me it is a great escape and pressure release valve. Comparable activities (in terms of what it achieves for me mentally) like playing squash or futsal are not convenient things to do at 9pm.

But balance in all things, I don't miss out on a workout or sleep to game.

I really like playing the new Mount and Blade. It’s still in early access but it’s so much fun to run around and make your own medieval kingdom. Best thing is there’s no story or objectives but still pretty clear path to running your own kingdom- it’s pretty easy to play casually.

I don’t play games anymore. Used to some years back. I don’t have anything against them though. I just spend so much time looking at screens already that video games became less enjoyable, and I found that gaming at night made it hard for me to wind down for bed

I play Apex 2-3 times a week with a group of 4-5 friends from around the country.  I'd mostly played FIFA and COD throughout my 20s then picked up Apex right before the pandemic.  During early COVID it became one of the only social outlets we had and now it's just a great way to keep up with friends who live elsewhere.  It's a surprisingly great hobby for some of my friends with young kids - the kids are asleep by 830 or so and it doesn't require leaving the house.   I basically never play games solo anymore - I just don't find it as enjoyable.

Used to game a lot when I was younger but these days I really only enjoy sim racing (fun to turn your brain off and send it around your favorite tracks) and occasionally some CS GO with some old friends. CS still has that old school FPS feel that newer FPS games just don't have anymore. Also, recently enjoying the new F1 Manager game. Never really enjoyed real time strategy games as a kid, but maybe I'll start getting into more of them since you can play them solo and they seem pretty relaxing … I guess I'm getting old haha.

I enjoy playing video games a lot like Ampire the masquerade console commands. And as long as it doesn't interfere with important aspects of my life, my position is the same as with any interest. I don't think it's good for my buddies to stay in their rooms for entire days at a time.

However, I would have a problem with working 10 hours on the weekends because I enjoy going out. And you're working more hours than I would consider healthy in general.

I enjoy playing games myself. When we're apart, my SO and I will occasionally play co-op games together.

I did, however, date someone who was a gaming addict years ago. Every day, he would play for 10 to 12 hours. It got to the point where I would simply visit his apartment after class and sit back and watch him play video games until we went to bed. At that point, he was typically too exhausted for sex.

I've always been a gamer. However, time management is extremely important to me. I don't game as much as I used to in high school, and I'd have serious reservations about dating a guy who spends the majority of his free time playing video games. =P I'm an artist who enjoys being outside. That is significant to me. And if he doesn't want to go out, there's no deal!

I don't play games anymore as it doesn't give me the satisfaction it use to. I wish I could immerse myself in a game like runescape again (clocked in atleast half my youth on it). I think it's a great alternative for killing time vs scrolling mindlessly on social media ie. tiktok, insta.

I’ve got COD mobile on my phone. Its like crack. Once I hit 150 I’m deleting it. Its been a solid reminder as to why I’ve never purchased a video game system.

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.

I can't call myself a "fanatic" but I love playing CSGO. I probably enjoy surfing in it the most. The core of all CS:GO surfing can safely be called strafe and the ability to maintain speed. The bottom line is that the user must learn to control these two aspects. In order to start surfing, it is worth choosing a server to play on. I chose it here. The core of all surfing in CS:GO can safely be called strafe and the ability to keep the speed. The point is that the user must learn to control these two aspects

Hey there! It's understandable that as life gets busier, finding time for video games can be challenging. Many of us can relate to the nostalgia and joy of playing games with friends. Balancing various activities and responsibilities can be tough, but it's all about finding a personal balance that works for you. Check the news and reviews on games at wowion.com to save time and find games faster. I hope that helps!

I introduced many guys to my fav video game at the time, but 2 guys were special cases -

One guy was my roommate and best friend at school. Was a top student and was doing his A Levels and undergrad on a prestigious scholarship by a blue chip corporation which guaranteed him a job at the corporation following undergrad. So the next 10 years of his life was set. I introduced him to the game, he got addicted to the balls, spent all his days gaming, skipped classes and school especially over the pandemic when standards were more lax cuz online everything. Now he's flunked outta uni, and assuming that the corporation hasn't been merciful and set him up in another university, he's hundreds of thousands in debt. Now he probably games all day

The other guy is my cousin. I introduced him to the game, he got hooked to the balls. Games 24/7. Over the pandemic he didn't attend a single online class. When school reopened he just didn't return at all because he was 2 entire years behind. Not to mention he was a weak student to begin with (he was placed in the 'special needs' classes in primary school, and had to repeat a year of high school lol). Now he's 17 and games all day. He worked a couple months at his parents' business but the other business partner (his aunt) fired him due to incompetence. Now he games all day at home

Hi there. It's a great way to relax and have a good time. Personally, I find some time in the evenings or on weekends to squeeze in a gaming session. It's all about finding the right balance and figuring out what's important to you. Oh, and speaking of games, have you ever tried Genshin Impact? It's pretty cool.

I’m 24 and could not feel comfortable wasting my time playing video games. We already have so little time in finance.

I have a girlfriend, don’t work out as much as I should, nor do I read as much as I should. There are more pressing things - things I’d rather do. And if I didn’t had a girlfriend it would be super pathetic for me to waste time on the Xbox when I could be going to the box getting box. Too many incels in the industry

I totally get where you're coming from! Life has a way of filling up with responsibilities, and sometimes the hobbies we used to love take a backseat. I was a huge gamer in my younger days, but like you, between work and all the other life commitments, it's tough to find time.
