Does anyone in finance field have a really good taste of music, like Heavy Metal or Extreme Metal?

Does anyone in finance field have a really good taste of 'real' music, like Heavy Metal or Extreme Metal? Just curious about it. Thanks.

Haha sorry, perhaps I should delete the word 'REAL', don't wanna get any argument but just discussing the variety and different genre ratio in different fields.

"Accounting_is_Taxing" I listen to everything from Elvis to Killswitch Engage to Taylor Swift.

I listen to whatever sounds good to me regardless of what genre it is.

Yikes, none of these artists you listed are actually good though....

Physician, artificial one-eye since childhood, precision action in market, tons of heavy music in biographic movie, talented but work hard -----really a genius and legend.

Their latest album in the end of 2019 was still awesome too. Polish always know how to make decent heavy music.

"guy_incognito" mgla helps me focus

I'm surprised. It's a pretty big hit in your neo-nazi crowd.

"MaherSabe" oh no authoritarianism

shut up jew

Not gonna lie going through someone's post history to reply to a rather innocuous comment is some real Reddit-tier shit. Like call out the white nationalist comments when they come up but use an argument against his view of heavy metal in this context, if any argument is necessary at all

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

I used to be more into heavy metal stuff (hence my username), but I agree on your comment about it being too frantic. The most vocal death metal fans I see on the internet don't listen to other genres much (if at all), and always talk about how technically difficult or aggressive a piece of music is, as if those are the only things that makes music good.

Any Norwegian Black Metal and Swedish Death Metal Fans here? I vaguely remember seeing an article about metal music and finance in WST a few years ago. I always thought the intensity of metal music would attractive some finance people...

I don't know if it counts but In Flames is my favorite metal band, however you want to classify them. Jester Race fave album.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

thanks for the list. I have been too busy at work in the past 6-8 years to branch out to new bands. Dimmu is one of my faves. I need to check out the others you mentioned. Thanks for the “food for thought”! I am nowhere close to NYC, if that is where you are.

i like the more accessible norwegian black metal, not much for the low-fi stuff. love the latest dimmu borgir record, eonian. those guys are still killing it! as for sweden, was really into late 90's-early 00s stuff, but haven't heard much i am stoked on of late. i have shifted to the polish scene lately; the last 3 behemoth records are killer, and mgla is a revelation. kriegsmashine really features some interesting drumming i've never heard before. you do have to be careful with the black metal scene though; many bands either have neo-nazi ties or are outright about it.

I hardly pay attention to lyrics. Norwegian black metal, Swedish death metal and symphonic death metal are, to me, examples of turning vocal into another instrument in a sophisticated music construct. Changing tempos and growling vocal add “flavors” to the music, when well integrated.

Yer fuckin 10 ply bud, go give yer balls a tug and start a classical music thread why dontcha.

"SkullCrusherDJ" Is House music defined as the music favored by the head of household?

Yes. And Trance music is defined as the music favored by the head of the Trancehold.

I am into Hammerfall, Sanata Arctica, Nightwish, Manowar, Trivium, In Flames and a couple of others. Not death metal but close to it and way too heavy for most of my colleagues.

WIMPS AND POSERS, LEAVE THE HALL!

Love Manowar and Hammerfall . . . I saw Sabaton live last fall and Hammerfall opened for them, hooked me right in.

I haven't met anyone into heavy metal in finance so the answer to your question is YES

Fuck yes, but mostly older stuff. Only 4 bands have been bestowed with the honor of having their own playlists on whitecollarandsuspenders Spotify, and they are as follows (along with my Mount Rushmore of songs for each band):

  • Metallica: Orion (Instrumental), One, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Jump In The Fire
  • Rage Against the Machine: Bulls On Parade, The Ghost of Tom Joad, I’m Housin’, People of the Sun
  • Disturbed: . . . fuck I can’t do this one, I could pick 4 off their first album alone
  • Sabaton*: Resist and Bite, Union (Slopes of St. Benedict), Swedish Pagans, Winged Hussars

**Power metal band from Sweden, all songs are about historical military battles/themes. If you like history and heavy metal . . . Sabaton is fucking mint. And while I listed my favorite songs above, as Michael Mike Bolton would say “I guess I sorta like’em all”*

Could only list so many, I love Ghost Division, 7734, and 40:1 in particular out of the ones you listed. 7 Pillars of Wisdom off the new album is a banger and just missed the cut

Carolus Rex is my favorite album by far but probably isn't the best to introduce people to Sabaton unless they are massive history buffs. Same with Hearts of Iron - that song is up there for me but unless you know Sabaton and/or really know the history behind the story its not the best candidate for drawing new fans in.

Yeaaah kehhhd, only reason I don't have a separate AC/DC playlist is cause they only got added to Spotify fairly recently.

It's funny cause Rage Against the Machine https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/tom-morello-paul-ry…</a">would definitely hate me, but I'll always love'em regardless.

Some of the bands such as Rage Against Machine, while classic, fall into the Rock category. Not that labels are crucial, but I have yet to meet someone in finance who are interested in discussing the differences in albums and evolution of bands such as Dark Tranquility or Into Eternity.

Ah heck ye boi, my kind of thread. I even had long hair a few years ago. Here´s my list:

  • Sabaton (the McDonalds of Metal)
  • Amon Amarth
  • Powerwolf (the edgy AA)
  • Manowar
  • Blind Guardian (rocking that symphonic style)
  • Dethklok (they have a fucking song about why they hate taxes and the IRS, how can you not love them?)
