for the boys...seriously?

Just saw this (Why This Married Wall Street Banker Pays For Sex) about a banker who pays for girls he meets on a "sugar daddy dating site". REALLY?! You innocent WSO monkeys wouldn't do this..would you?

I usually just meet them for a drink and then we got back to my hotel. I've lowered my price, too, and the girls seem okay with it. I'm not sure if it is because of the economy and that people aren't getting as much, but I throw out a number and negotiate only if I really like the girl. Depending on "hotness" the range is now $400 to $600 a night to meet a girl and sleep with her.

On a side note, I have been told by guy friends in the industry that when they go out with others GuyS in their groups ... married men have taken off their wedding rings and 'party like they're single'

I'm guessing that the reason i dont know anyone is because senior guys will more likely share these things with other guys, and almost never young girls at work.

oR3DL1N3oi know a TON of wealthy guys that do this, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, etc.. although no bankers. i can never seem to understand why someone would pay for it, however i can see why they would go out and try to sleep with hot girls. not my cup of tea though.

I think you fail to realize that in some fashion or another you are always paying for "it" ... think about it ... For example, when you are at a bar and see a chick you are interested in taking home do you just walk up to her chat her up and prance you ass back home with her - highly doubt it. The reality of it is you spend the night feigning interest in what she has to say and buying her drinks in the hope that she will get tipsy/drunk enough to disregard the voice in her head saying that going home with you is a bad idea.

Don't knock it till you try it .. Sure you are its probably going to cost you more with the escort, but i see it as a convenience premium - you don't have to go through the whole song and dance .. you get what you want when you want it. Just my two cents.

When your really rich, paying for hookers is far cheaper than paying for a wife.

Yes, but in this case he is paying for hookers and a wife.

Yes, seriously it happens all the time. Finance guys work very hard, like to control situations and make good money. The website is called, whatsyourprice. There is women who also look for companionship on there.

Not sure why all the hate on the dude, you have no idea who he is or who his wife is. You seriously think his wife has no idea why he stays in the city? You seriously think if she was fully taking care of his needs he would act or say the things he does?

Maybe I should get over it but I'm too proud to pay for a hooker. Also I don't know how I'll think in a few years or when I'm married but right now I think cheating is unacceptable. I couldn't imagine cheating on my girlfriend and I know she wouldn't cheat on me.

Bondarbwait people cheat on their wives? I'm shocked! ...pretty sure this phenomenon isnt unique to the finance industry...
right there with ya.. i'm sure there's equally as much demand from miserable lawyers and consultants. however, media is blasting wall street and 'bankers' only. was it buzzfeed that ran that article on the hooker that had 'banker clients'? (which someone posted here) otherwise useless journalists are singling out bankers and repainting all of them to this 'stereotype' everywhere

I guess it's only that guy's bank, it cant be everywhere, omg, pay for sex, cheat on his wife..!

Chill the fuck out, happens left right and centre. Quite a few women I know implicitly allow their husband / partner to have occasional one night stands if he's still a good father to their children and a good husband altogether (it's probably going to crush a lot of 16 year-old minds here, but it does happen).

It's not black and white, you know.

totally agree with ya

"REALLY?!"

Yes, really. Never underestimate what a guy will do to f*ck a hot young chick. They will break the law, risk their marriage and health, and pay many thousands of dollars if they can't get it any other way.

But to be fair, women can be just as unabashed about getting laid, the main difference is that they go for high status as opposed to men who go for looks alone:

You people seem to have the wrong interpretation of the prostitution business. He's not paying for the sex, he's paying her to leave when he's done.

... why do I not find this shocking, surprising, or horrifying?

Currently: future neurologist, current psychotherapist Previously: investor relations (top consulting firm), M&A consulting (Big 4), M&A banking (MM)

He must be a loser. Paying 4k a month for sex because he couldn't get laid when he had to pick women up in a bar. What an asshole.

Thanks for making us look good in the media.

Ha, by far cheaper than getting a wife plus you avoid the day to day bullshit of having one.

CNBC ran a special on this exact thing, watch it. It happens it isn't a big deal, why people worry about other people and are so quick to judge other people I'll never understand.

It's approx 44 mins. http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=1183761885

enjoy.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

The first third of the comments gave me hope, the rest were what I expected.

The "transaction" is a little pathetic, but not exactly surprising. Having the ring on his finger is the big deal. If you can't handle it, follow Uncle Eddie's advice and don't get married.

You don't know his circumstances at all. You've assumed so much. I wouldn't do what this guy does (if you have that kind of money you can get it for free, and then suddenly it becomes socially acceptable).

I love how the same people that preach tolerance for religions, colours and sexuality are now so intolerant of others peoples PRIVATE decisions based on MUTUAL consent.

A married guy paying a lot for poon who's willing to discuss to an interviewer, "I'm a banker through and through." I have no problem assuming he lives a better life than most people, so he does not get my sympathy if he doesn't feel like a "Man in Full."

Why all the judging of people who judge? If he can buy hookers, I can have an opinion on the fact that his private life is f'ed up.

I personally think (i) its a personal choice (don't critizise what you don't understand) and (ii) one perhaps driven by situations (age, level of maturity, finding the right person, etc)

In my experience, loyalty has been a good policy (and gives you peace of mind: no need to invent excuses, helps keeping the person you love and spares lots of tears and ackward situations). Understand that it has to be your own/free decision, and know your partner though (also be clear and expect 100% in retribution, helps you sleep well at night).

As the post asks for situations with colleagues, during my career I have been at parties/"nights out", and at some point there is an element of flirting (human nature, I presume). I enjoy helping the boys pick-up the girls at the bar. I then let them deal with them, as I leave home to my loving wife with a clean conscience. Some married colleagues cannot handle this challenge and wake up somewhere else. Why? I don't know, as most argue to be "happily married".

I have also been having some drinks and fun (after closing dinner etc.), when somebody suggests a shady place. Again, some colleagues decide to have a go and leave some money on the (night)table. Also happily married men. Why? no idea, perhaps for fun, testosterone, alcohol, boredom, still need/have something to prove... I've heard some answers, most quite trivial. Again, each one should decide. No criticism.

To OPs last question: above certain level you become careful of damaging your reputation, so you become more choosy when selecting your drink pals (particularly if the could end up in other places). No need for people talking about "last night drinks" (can get very nasty if you hold a certain position within the organisation), specially if there are juniors you still do not know/can trust their silence and complicity. In other words it gets more selective, complicated and a sort of "what happens in Vegas..."

Again, keep it simple, be loyal and truthful... otherwise, live your dream and do not get in a relationship if you are not into it (yet).

Paying for sex isn't shocking by any means, whats shocking is when you marry someone for looks and not their personality. Its very important to be a good judge of character. Otherwise you'll end up marrying a whore.

I'm pretty sure this is called prostitution...

little free time + no mood to flirt + high elasticity demand for sex

seems like an easy equation, the outcome isn't surprising

my question is: is it sth they brag about or keep it secretely?
