It is pronounced "ee-bit-dah". I cannot stand it when people go "EBIT-dee-ay".
Seconded
Thirded.
I opened this thread solely to make that same statement.
Got to second this.
I once heard "eh-bu-duh" said really quickly, sounded the most retarded thing ever - made me question the CEO's quality....
People do the "dee ay" to avoid confusion with EBITDAR
question their quality? i'm assuming that's an exaggeration solely based on how they pronounced one term.
Eh-bit-duh
Is in the same ballpark as
Fih-nance
You wouldn’t understand, you aren’t prestigious
I'm waiting for a chance to say EBITDAR on Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Truth is that I'm not fussed what someone uses. There are bigger things to worry about. But I'm in the 'duh' camp.
That's it. From now on, I am saying "ebitdARRRRRRR"
You don't have to wait for Talk Like a Pirate Day for that. The R at the end can mean either Restructuring or Rent costs. Happy pillaging!
I read this last night and laughed my ass off as I was studying up on technicals today.
EBITDAR (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, Amortization & Rent): Multiple used in Retail/Airlines.
"You often remove Rent because it is a major expense and one that varies significantly between different types of companies."
EBITDARRRRRRRRRR
I pronounce it like: yeeee beeee aiii teeeeee deeeee ehhhh
I personally pronounce it with a "dah" at the end. However, at the MM PE shop I interned at, most of the senior partners pronounced it "dee ay"
Had this Italian professor pronounce it e-BEET-da. She also pronounced beta "beeta", which drove me nuts every time I heard it
PRONOUNCE IT?! dude I been spelling it out this whole time.. e..b..i..t..d..a
When I first became acquainted with the term, in my head I did the "spell it out fully" pronunciation.
I was bsing. I work wayyyyy back in the BO, I never used ebitda in a sentence before..
muhahahaha my joke gets funnier
E-BIT-DAH
Although some do E-BIT-D-A
E-BIT-DUH
I pronounce it "Straight cash homie"
ebit-ayyyylmao
lmfao Superleggera
I honoestly didn't even know there was another way of pronouncing it besides ee-bit-duh
Old CSO would pronounce it as "eh-bed-DAH"
Drove the other analysts and me crazy.
I pronounce and T and D as the same consonant, like Ee-bid-uh. Also, EBITDAX ftw
We had a kid interview and literally spell out each letter E-B-I-T-D-A. Still cringeworthy to this day.
