How long do you keep your GPA on your resume? Display post-bacc certificate GPA but not undergrad?
Hey all -- quick question. How long do you keep your GPAs on your resume for? I had a 2.8 cumulative in undergrad but had a 3.5 concentration GPA (at our school we had a 'concentration' of certain classes from our major (i chose my macro/financial economics courses) and several 'related' (my finance/business classes) that goes into this -- a major/minor combination almost) but thats seven years ago. I obviously dont market my overall GPA on my resume but I also completed several classes for a post-bacc certificate (UCLA/Berk Extension, NYU SCPS) and which I finished a couple years ago which I have a 3.9 GPA in.
Since I am seven years out, do I need to list either GPA on my resume? I'd like to list the stronger, most recent GPA, but I'm wondering if not listing both wil lraise eyebrows (I currently market my post-bacc and the concentration GPA on my resume) or if just listing the post-bacc but nothing for undergrad will seem weird (it is much more recent?) I work in Asset Management btw.

I think listing anything other than the overall GPA is misleading and can get you into alot of trouble. I would leave off the GPA and focus on my work experience. I highly doubt any employer will ask about your GPA from 7 years ago.

7 years out? You're almost 30? No reason to list GPA. Definitely don't exclusively list your post-bacc GPA though, if you insist on putting one down. It'd be misleading. A few extension classes isn't the same thing as 4 years of undergrad, and if I'm the interviewer I'd assume that's what your "GPA" is referring to.
The post bacc certificates are from a completely different school and listed as a different heading, they're not the same school or combined or anything
So they're clearly not from the same school or for the same programs so it wouldn't make one seem like its misleading or over the other but maybe I'll just nix both from there overall
Are you applying to business school? If not, you probably don't need anything more than a single line for the certificate on your resume. You definitely don't need any GPA.
Yeah I would avoid any confusions in a resume! Employers are looking for reasons to hold onto a resume and if there is doubt...

My GPA is around 3.1-3.2, though from a USNWR top 5 school. With very heavy networking, I got two great offers from Barcap IBD and also a VC fund in the southeast and am currently deciding between those two. I know that my GPA could hurt me later on if I decided to do some sort of grad school later on, but for the purposes of resumes and job-hunting, when can I take my GPA off my resume?
Sort of in the same boat as you, albeit at a slightly lower ranked school. Curious to know other people's opinions on this as well.
With your first real job
You could take it off once you start at either of those firms. If you went to a top school plus either of those positions, that speaks for itself. If someone down the line (employer, grad school) wants to know, they won't be shy to ask.
Not sure I agree with the two posts above. Most PE/buyside firms/headhunters will want to see GPA for pre-MBA associates
I had this problem. During your first job hunt during your current FT role, replace the gpa with "Dean's List"... that's what I did which was a reflection of the truth (since I got dean's list a bunch, just didn't have a 3.9 gpa).
Employers in the interviewers of my next gig were just like "well, it says dean's list and you work as a XYZ, so I take it you're smart"... and I never had to bring up gpa ever again.
Oddly, the SAT question came up a lot.. I was in HF recruiting during job 2 and it was very odd how SATs came up since they never did during FT out of undergrad.

At what point is it acceptable to take your gpa off your resume. mine wasn't bad, but not great enough to advertise now that i've been working as an analyst. so when i'm done with my 2 year stint, is it necessary/expected for it to be on my resume? at what point in time is it okay to take it off? i would hope that since i've been working it should matter, but I have no idea. Any one have any words of wisdom.
take it off the day you take a fulltime job out of college.
if your looking at PE, they still ask for it as do HFs and other similar jobs
