How many of you can Actually bench 225?
Just want to gauge the competition here.
What better way to determine a man's, or woman's, (I don't discriminate) potential to climb the corporate ladder like a true monkey than by his ability to push a hunk of steel alloy away from his own well-defined body due to years of training like an utter NPC (just admit you're not the main character) within the confines of the gym.
Basically: do you even lift, my brothers?
(Sorry about the grammar)
305 Bench @175 pounds. training for 1.5 years
Holy shit bro
Used to be fat. Started at 230lbs and 6"0.Have a really high metabolism, eat around 3500 cals a day, 180-200g of protein a day. Used to eat like 5000-7000 cals a day when I was fat from junk food lol. Surprised I only got to 230 lbs.
250/350/420 B/S/D @ 195lbs. Was stronger senior year, got weak in IB, getting back to it in PE.
235 bench at 155 lbs (am manlet)
125 Bench at 180 lbs RAHHHHHHHHH (I am incredibly weak)
We love the honesty
135 for reps at 130 body weight (Manlet)
I don't think I could bench press 225 even if you're counting the sum of two attempts lol. But as a distance runner benching more (having more upper body mass) would be an impediment to me.
I haven't benched in about 7 years, most I ever did was 110kg for two reps @74kg bodyweight. That's about 240lbs @162lbs bodyweight.
175 @ 220lbs (fat and getting back in shape)
265/365/335 BSD - 5 11 - 173 lbs
270lbs at 140lbs took two years of powerlifting to get here and I used to be a twig
I can do it for a set of 20.
PM me if you doubt this statement and I will gladly wager my upcoming bonus
I don’t bench much anymore, 275 was the most when I actually tried to test it @ 180 pounds in 2017.
Hit bench for the first time in a year or so maybe 2 weeks ago and got a 3x5 at 225 so it’s still not too hard for me. Most of my workouts focus on back, shoulders, legs, and maybe chest if I’m feeling frisky. Right now due to time constraints with work/life I kinda just “play the hits” and do deadlifts, squats, zercher variations, cleans, shoulder accessories and arms maybe 1-2 times a week.
Most of the accessories I do now are kind of just maintenance things like weighted stretches, hip and ankle work, etc.
345 / 760 / 580 BSD but I’m 245 lbs and 6’3. I’ve spent much of the last five years training, lucky enough with my current assignment to get as much gym time as I want.
760 squat?? Bro start competing wtf
I wish I had the time haha. Right now I don’t think I could hit, my max is probably 710 or so at the moment, I’ve been working on getting my run times lower. My five mile is currently a 37:40, goal is hit 36 flat by the end of the summer.
Before I worked in finance, 225 for reps at 170 lbs. These days, down to 165 and working my way back
385/265/410 @ 204
Been going to the gym for 16 months
Strong mofos
225-235. I usually just do one plate on each side and 3 sets of 12 plus a burn out of about 13-20 on the last. Sometimes I’ll try and get multiple reps of 185. I’m about 180 pounds currently and never been good at bench.
Now that I’ve already gotten my first job, I usually just tend to keep my bench press max # off my resume.
Hot take: bench press fucking sucks, guys that I know with the most impressive chests never bench press with a barbell that is. Most people use way too much front shoulder, especially incline.
Incline DB bench gave me some nice yitties
I can bench 225lbs for 20 still. I’ve been doing more cardio so I don’t really max out on the Big 3, I’m old
Highest was 295 at 190 lbs. Currently improved pound for pound during my last cut to 285 at 170 lbs at 6'1".
I’ve gotten up to 120lb dumbbells for 5 reps, but am not there now.
At peak, 340 bench at 235lbs
425/245/420 @155 wanna be powerlifter
75lb dumbells for 4x5 at 150 lbs, 5'6", haven't tested barbell max. been training ~5 months
I can bench 225 and run a 5 minute mile
Sorry to filter you OP, and yes I am the main character
.............
205 bench @ 155lbs
Are you 5’5” or anorexic?
I’m 5’9 and pretty lean (12-15% bf). That’s my 1rm and I’m still in college. Goal is 165-170lbs lean.
I hit 16x225 maybe 6-12mo ago when I tried testing it. I’m not particularly strong, just been training forever. Consistency/discipline beats everything in the long run.
Side note: wish we could still post anonymously in off topic.
lifetime max was 300 at about 165lbs. I don't do traditional bench anymore, opting instead for floor press
it's not hard to train up to that, you can get there with any 5/3/1 or starting strength program. if you want to really up your numbers, the ohio state pyramid is what helped me
that said, unless you're a competitive bodybuilder or work in the fitness industry, talking about bench pressing outside of a session in which you are bench pressing is one of the lamest things ever
