NYC IB employer testing for marijuana
I am an incoming summer ib analyst and recently got a drug testing appointment from my employer. I go to school in MA and the test is at a local lab. i looked up the test and apparently it also tests for weed. I thought NY employers were not allowed to test for that anymore? I am an occasional smoker and might pass the test but I'm curious how my employer is even testing for it and if I should be worried about any action. Could they rescind my offer?
If I were you, I would hope they would rescind your offer if they are based in NYC as they are setting themselves up to be sued big time if they rescind an offer for a substance that is legal. That is like rescinding and offer because someone smokes cigarettes or eats spaghetti, lets see what other commenters say though
Not allowable. Honestly I might just take the test and if they try to rescind on that you can deal with it then because they'd be breaking the law. Maybe the test you looked up is not the right one
Not really sure, but just because a test is testing for marijuana among other drugs does not mean that your employer would rescind based on weed positive.

I thought the law was that they couldn't discriminate hiring based on weed, not that they couldn't test per se.
Anyone who uses marjuana does not deserve to work in investment banking. Marijuana is a dangerous gate way drug that paves the way to cocaine and premarital sex. Instead of smoking the devils lettuce you should reevaluate your life and find a new job before you get fired for failing the test, hippie.

100%. I’ve seen too many of my friends participate in the “ganja” and completely ruin the bright futures they had ahead of them. They started listening to hip hop and rap music, wearing not just one but two chains, getting spicy chicken sandwiches at places like Popeyes instead of good Christian fast food joints like Chick Fil A. If you wanna be an investment banker I recommend you choose breathing oxygen instead of the “good good”.
