Personal Finance Tips for Young Grads

Hey all. Newly minted A1 at a top independent advisory shop in NYC. I want to make my $$$ go as far as it can...especially in a high cost of living city like New York. I was in the privileged position of having family support in undergrad, so I have no student loans or credit card debt.

I think I'm doing some of the obvious things:

-Budgeting out expenses and trying to live within my base salary (still haven't had a full, normal month here so I can't provide exact bucketing of what my spending looks like as a % of monthly income)

-Maxing Roth 401k and Roth IRA

-Two Credit Cards: 1 for groceries/dining (3% cash back) and the other for general expenses. Getting strong promotional offers in terms of points, cash rewards, etc from both

Any tips on more niche ways to stretch my dollars would be greatly appreciated.

Get on Credit Karma. It will give you tips on how to up your credit rating and you’ll see your utilization percentages. Try to spend below 10% of your credit card maxes and also try to increase your maxes as high as you can so utilization is low.
