My gpa in college was 3.2 from an Ivy League. I didn’t get an IB job out of undergrad and worked in equity research for 2 years first. Then I moved into a product group.
I should have went to a less competitive school and gotten a higher gpa
Gpa doesn’t matter once you’re above a 3.3
Lol @ all the nerds with 3.9-4.0
4.0, non target. Definitely not going to get you an internship but is one of many factors that you can stack in your favor to maximize ur odds.
3.5 Semi Target
It's more about your appearance/behavior/pedigree past a certain level of "this kid is qualified".
MDs are going to push for the 3.6 Eton/Deerfield/Andover/Exeter/Westminster 6'3 D1 lax star who benches 315 and is the VP of PIKE over a 4.0 peasant 5'8 kid with glasses
have you ever stepped on an IB floor? it’s mostly 5’8” nerds with glasses lmao
Lol typical prospect logic in original comment
I wonder how many lacrosse players there are, even D1, who can bench 315 (especially 6'3" lmao). My guess is you could count the number on two hands or less.
I used lacrosse as a sport with stereotypically attractive fratty/preppy guys, you could replace it with rowing/rugby/football and get a much higher proportion
3.5, non-target
3.4 non-target, but i say 3.5
3.3 with networking can get you to IB if you come from a top school.
If you're from a decent school, 3.5 usually is the minimum
If you're from a not so great school, you'd need at least 3.8
More like 3.7 from decent school, 3.9-4.0 from nontarget
3.8 non-target and got offer at BB. For non-target and semi-target, the cutoff for most is going to be 3.5 for business majors. Strive for 3.7+ and anything past that won’t make much of a difference. Networking & experience is more important
3.96, spent a year at non target, transferred to semi.
exact same lmfao
3.3
3.6 from semi-target.
I had a 3.64 but when applying in the late 2000s, it wasn't high enough for IB from a nontarget. Luckily it is about average for top MBA programs if I want to go back to school.
Let’s not
3.3 from an Ivy
3.5 when doing summer internship recruiting
2.8-ish? It prolly delayed my career a couple years, but it's amazing what letters after your name will do
3.6 non target (ended up in S&T not IB though)
3.5.
Major GPA probably was more like a 3.2. My elective classes were almost all straight As.
Hated my major, wish I went with something easy like business at my school. Could have easily pulled a 3.7+.
2.8 ended up in prop/quant trading, target university, great story, big into digital assets/crypto when the firms started exploring that product.
Edit: I can't read and didn't realize it said IB at the top lol.
We know you can’t read, you got a 2.8 😂😂😂
