Relax. Your GPA at this point A) is perfectly fine for one semester of college (way higher than mine was) and B) is only one semester. If you really think its low, which its not, you can always bring it up. If you maintain your 3.6 throughout your college years, you will have no problem meeting the minimum GPA of any firm.
That being said, if you don't network you are still screwed. You could have a 3.9 from a non-target and still get almost no interviews. You need to network your ass off. If you meet someone, or ask an alum for an informational interview, and they like you, they will get you an interview, unlike trying to go through the website. Once you do get an interview though, the GPA and resume really mean nothing, it is up to you to prepare and rock your interviews.
3.80 (19 credits... i went overboard). Ended the year with a 3.86. After that, my GPA got lower every semester but 1! Finished w a 3.7. Youre fine though, just go up, not down like me.

3.6 really isn't bad, although freshman year most classes should be pretty easy. One thing to consider that I wish I would have taken more advantage of is Credit/No Credit. For pre-reqs that you don't give a shit about, see if this is an option where all you need to do is pass the class and get credit. Then you can devote more time to courses that interviewers will care about.
First semester is terrible for most people (it's an adjustment period in multiple ways). Most reasonable people and firms understand this. Oh, and as other people have said, your GPA is not low, but coming from a non-target, networking is the key. NETWORK!
4.0 while taking 15 credit hours and working 60 hours per week. Literally skipped half my classes as well and had no trouble getting straight A's. The first two years in college are an absolute joke.

Mine was around a 3.6 and I ended with over a 3.9, so don't sweat it.
