Whats the best question an interviewer has asked you?
We were shooting the shit at the bullpen yesterday 2AM, and the topic came up. Curious to hear what questions interviewees have asked you that you still remember to this day.

When would you like to start?
“Walk me through how you make a filet Mignon”
“Name 3 people that inspire you”
"What's the onboarding process like, and does your group test for marijuana before the internship?" - Pre 2020 ny
Sh*t mane I would ask that question too
“How would you solve the Isreal-Palestine conflict?”
I’ve been asking candidates this. The question has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with their ability to present and defend an idea.
“IsREAL”?? 😂😂😂
Whatever your view, clearly we have a bunch of man-children in this thread. Everyone who MS is exactly the kind you would never want to hire — they can never see the other side.
Uncooperative / set in their own ways.
I would respond with “fix it myself” and wouldn’t go into any more detail until you gave me the job
Acceptable answer
Curious what percent go for "enforce a two state solution" vs "let isreal complete their ethnic cleansing"
~10 out of ~20 went with two state
About 4 and 4 went with one side or another (“Israel has to protect themselves” or “Palestine is defending themselves”)
And there was one odd person talking about how Finland needs to step up and help resolve the conflict…
if someone asked me this in an interview I would assume they were an idiot, no offense
What have you done in the last 48 hours that’s give you great pleasure? He also asked female candidates this question.
Guy sounds like he watches you piss at the urinal
this gives me some BB VP vibes... https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/investment-banking/vp-busts-a-nut…
"How has your team helped you succeed?"
That’s actually a good one - what do people usually say? Any responses that you liked from people you’ve spoken with?
Yeah most people are receptive to this question - people love to talk about themselves and their success throughout the years.
“What’s the nicest thing someone has done for you?”
Realized I never thought this one through so ended up choosing something around getting my IB gig.
Oooh that’s a good one
How did you answer that Q
Out of all the people you spoken with, who did you resonate with the most, and why? - very last interview from a super day
How did you respond to that one?
I have only been asked this once so I mentioned who I thought had a similar background and general personality. But then they asked who I resonated with the least, so I just mentioned the person who did the round of solely technical questions as I didn't get to know that person or learn anything about them.
I had went to an interview and the interviewer ask me to list all company I have interviews in, and then three places I was least interested in and why
Why should we hire you?
How does your experience line up with this job?
What are your strengths & weaknesses and how could they meet the requirements of the role?
We have three really good candidates for this role - explain why you are the best one?
Where do you see yourself in this company going forward?
What is the biggest dream in your life?
I am leaving out all the brain teasers from google, amazon et al
How do you answer the last one / what are good answers you’ve heard if you ask this one?
The interviewer wanted to figure out whether I want to own/run my own company, so I lied to them and said I want to stay with them and get promoted, bla bla...
Open ended questions are good if you want the candidate to go out a little bit. They either mention pets, family, hobbies or something like their own business.
There is a company called Rabbi's Meat Blessings. They bless meat, and then the meat becomes Kosher. If RMB blesses 1,000,000 lbs of meat/year, what valuation would you give the RMB business? And why? ... In other words, what valuation would you put on a singular rabbi's blessing (times 1 mil)?
Cant imagine how I would respond to this in an interview. Interesting question though.
Tell me about yourself
Far from the best but easily the most memorable:
"One day, your girlfriend tells you she is pregnant. This comes as a surprise as she also mentions she's consistently taken birth control. This shouldn't happen. Who's fault is this and how would you go about taking responsibility?"
