Personally a fan of Jerome Powell. As a non-academic he spent a lot of time studying economics its practical implications since Obama appointed him to the Federal Reserve Board.
Problem with having academics like Greenspan as the Chairman seems to be that they like to stick to some theory and some academic school of thought without being pragmatic.
Instead, Jerome Powell seems to understand how to balance academic thought, pragmatism, and intuition using a highly data-driven approach. (You can see this very clearly if you watch some of his interviews, hearings, conference talks, etc...). Just a smart dude trying to practice good problem solving skills and do his job.
Now I'm wondering, would JPow be reappointed as the Fed Chairman in 2022? Would that be a good thing? Would he somehow take the blame for some of the PPP loan corruption (which he doesn't deserve)?
