Would I look like a douchebag for sending cold emails on 4th of July?
What do you guys think? Not like it's a real holiday like Christmas or Thanksgiving or anything.
Am I good to blast or will I look like a douchebag?

Yes
how come?
Because it's a federal holiday and people don't even feel like responding to work emails let alone some undergrad's cold networking emails
don't you think kobe bryant is still in the gym on the federal holidays? he wants to be there
Go big or go home - gotta red flag follow up that sucker
No but just wait a day dude it’ll be fine
Try Europe.
No. This is a perfect day to go to a used car dealership and buy a rusty Honda instead.
Don't forget to bring some candy with you so you can drive it in the parade on the way home.
What?
Si
You'll look like a hardo. If you do really want to work, just do a delay send and have all of them go out tomorrow morning.
Although you perceive it as hard work and grit, if you're cold-emailing people in a more senior position than you on a federal holiday, they're more likely to just be annoyed by the email, rather than respect you for the hustle. Up to you though.
Not if he invites them to a smoothie chat.

You are dealing with WSO's most prestigious troll.

you failed to accept my coffee chat request over PM. if i send you a LinkedIn invite and ask you on there instead, but this time smoothies instead of coffee, will you accept my request?
lmfao
The frustrating thing about the delayed send is that its still timestamped at the time you sent it, not when they received it. So if I'm reading through my emails I may look back and think i got it on july 4th lol
Don't.
Analysts/associates visibly twitch when their Blackberry goes off on a holiday, and finding an email from a college kid is not going to make them want to respond. Seniors are probably taking the long weekend off and will never see your email.
Send them out Monday for highest response rates.
You might also consider answering OP's post on why coffee isnt a dirty habit or what is the most alpha job at a bank.

If you mail out cold emails on July 4, based on your previous posts, it should only be to Deutsche.

This is so true. People are losing an appreciation for the founding of this nation.
What more American than cold calling?
Wouldn’t say you would look like anything. I would however say do not do this because people aren’t checking their emails so it will get lost in the stack.
Just take the day off dude. That sovereign wealth account you've been after can wait until tomorrow.
yea i just scheduled for tomorrow morning
Just remember to request a read receipt.
It's totally fine. It's a fucking email you twats not a text or phone call. Good lord.
Go have some fun. I respect the grind but it is a holiday. It is a real holiday because it is a day by law where you get paid to not show up to work. Surely you can send them the next day. Even the stock market is closed
fun?
lol i didnt even send emails and im compensated to do so. I Can only imagine how a networking email would go over on a holiday
Don't do this. Please.
Put yourself in the shoes of whoever you're emailing. They have a random day off in the middle of the week. They're at the beach or a BBQ or just relaxing at home when they see a message pop up on their Outlook app. They open it up sheepishly, thinking it may be important, and what do they see? Some rando undergrad. Not a good start for you.
Could go three ways, from most likely to least likely:

Yes
Just curious if you ever followed through with this. If so, what happened? famejranc
He's now an MD at Evercore.
I think you mean PWP?
People read e-mails when they have time. Lots of people work on things like networking over a weekend. I don't think it's a big deal - it's the day you have time to do it, not your fault.
I never get offended by when I receive an e-mail - sometimes people send things at 2 am.
If you're really concerned, draft them and hold off shooting them until the next day. It's a great opportunity to say "hope you enjoyed the holiday"
On this point, I wouldn't necessarily get mad about it, but other than swipe the notification off my home screen and reply a few days later, I would probably think you're a bit of a loser and don't have any friends.
