Coinvest Associate role Tips

If you have gone through the process, could you please share what to prepare for the interview in terms of what interview sources one should look up, types of questions to prepare, and how to prepare for an one-hour modeling.

Thank you in advance!

You should prepare as if it were a regular PE interview. The model will be a straightforward LBO, most likely. If there's a case, you should think about the investment decision as if you were the PE firm, with the added question of "Is this the right PE firm to do this deal and do we want to co-invest with them?" Technical questions for co-invest will also be the same as for a PE or IB role and probably will be the more basic questions.

Thank you, Lima. May I ask for guidance on how to make a decision whether to co-invest with PE Fund A versus PE Fund B? What are some pointers? Thanks!

Think of it like you're investing in a company a couple of things to consider

I) Has PE Firm A demonstrated a successful track record in the past

II) Do you believe in the business plan (forecast) that the PE firm presented if not, how much would you haircut

III) Do you believe in the investment thesis of the PE firm

IV) Have they had co-investors before and what do other co-investors think about them/their experience (for example if things aren't going well is PE Firm A transparent, etc.)

Thank you, Associate 2. This is helpful. When speaking of how much one believes in the forecast, what would make one cast doubt on the forecast?

I think, for me, if a company has a track record of, say, successful price increase and customer retention, the it is more believable to have faith in the forecast. There are other criteria too but I am here to learn.
