Interview after super day?

I had a superday at a MF for a middle office internship for Summer 2026. The superday went amazing and I really got along with my interviewers. They emailed me asking for another interview. Wondering what to expect as usually I assume “superdays” are final? Is it maybe for team placement or something of that sort

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's uncommon but not unheard of for firms to request an additional interview after a superday. Here are a few potential reasons for this:

  1. Team Placement or Fit Assessment: If the superday went well, this follow-up interview could be for team-specific placement. Some firms like to ensure that candidates not only fit the company culture but also align well with the specific team they might join.

  2. Clarification or Confirmation: Occasionally, firms may want to clarify certain aspects of your experience, skills, or fit that weren't fully addressed during the superday. This could also be a chance for a senior team member who missed the superday to meet you.

  3. Final Tie-Breaker: If the firm is deciding between a few strong candidates, this additional interview might serve as a tie-breaker to finalize their decision.

  4. Role-Specific Requirements: For middle office roles, there might be additional technical or situational questions that are specific to the team or function you're being considered for.

What to Expect:

  • Similar Format: The interview might resemble your superday interviews, with a mix of behavioral and technical questions.
  • Team-Specific Questions: Be prepared for questions that dive deeper into the specific responsibilities of the role or team.
  • Cultural Fit: They may want to assess how well you align with the team dynamics and work style.

How to Prepare:

  • Review Your Superday Performance: Reflect on the questions you were asked and your responses. Be ready to expand on any areas you feel could have been stronger.
  • Research the Team: If you know which team this interview is for, research their focus and recent projects to tailor your answers.
  • Stay Consistent: Maintain the same level of enthusiasm and professionalism you displayed during the superday.

This follow-up is likely a positive sign, so approach it with confidence and preparation!
