Moelis NY MF/UMM PE Exits by Group

I am a non-diverse student at a semi-target recruiting for SA 2024 and am interested in Moelis NY (long story short also have a good chance landing an offer). Heard Moelis recently switched to group focus rather than generalist and I am a little skeptical about group placement prospects. My objective is to ultimately exit to MF/UMM PE.

- I would love to get more color about what the group placement process looks like. Is it very hard to get a top group if you don't have alum in it?

- What are the top groups in terms of buyout PE exit opportunities?

- Besides the M&A group itself, specifically curious about what exit prospects are like at these groups - FIG, REGLL, TMT?

Moelis NY isnt big enough where groups matter yet. That said HC Services is pre good from who I talked to and he chose the group specifically for PE recruiting.
