UBS, they are putting more money/emphasis on their internship program
RBC, they are putting more money into actually paying and retaining people.
I would probably take UBS. I know it's fallen on hard times, but it still looks better on a resume than RBC (at least in the US) should you decide to look at other firms for FT. Do you like the placements at RBC? I like a rotational program. Lets you meet more people, learn more products, and find out where you really want to be.

Thanks for the input everyone. I personally like the placement program at RBC as a concern that I have with UBS is that I won't like/know how to do half of the desks I'm rotated through. I understand that UBS is more prestigious on a resume, but I am also keen on RBC's current growth rate. Really torn, as you can tell... any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Go with what you like, it definitely seems like your leaning towards RBC. Although it may not be a BB in NYC, if you really liked the people and the opportunities the placement would present then go with it. Take this with a grain of salt as I am currently in the wait phase for summer internships and would love to be in your position. Congrats on the offers though!

What are the pros of going through a rotational program at UBS if I can do what I want to do at a smaller bank for the 10 week period?
The pros are that if you don't get the offer at RBC you'll be much better served having spent a summer at UBS.
Also, if you've never worked in the biz, how do you even know what a desk is like, let alone what you want to do. the exposure of the rotational program will broaden your horizons.

UBS is struggling. There was an article today on www.dealbreaker.com saying they're potentially moving their trading floor out of Stamford as well... something to think about
UBS has a great S&T rotational program. I interned there last summer, so if you have any specific questions definitely ask! Even though you may think you know what desk you are most interested in, its extremely helpful to rotate so you can find where you fit in the best. And its not necessarily all about the product, but the group + people as a whole.
UBS, no question. UBS has much better people in NYC than does RBC. The best people at RBC are in Toronto. NYC is a satellite office. Plus, you have no clue about the business so rotational is better.

For S&T, hands down RBS.
In Equities? Uhh, hands down UBS. They're both shit at the moment, but for Equities UBS dominates RBS.
RBS barely has an equities team...they are predominantly a debt shop........also they are probably the last bank you would want to work for atm....when was the last time anyone in RBS has seen a bonus?
BespokeAnalyst2010 will be working for RBS next year. He/she promotes RBS on every single thread, whether it is IBD, S&T or as a whole. Well done.
I heard both are horrible for S&T due to huge losses by their departments. The IBD team at UBS were making fun of the S&T team and telling me how great I am for picking IBD, which made me not ask my healthcare question since obviously they were selling me quite hard. I got the offer the next day.
