It's that time of year again, wasting countless hours trying to get into a BB sophomore banking internship. Don't worry all the hard work will hopefully at least get you into a boutique internship this summer. Best of luck and here are some of the sophomore diversity/non-diversity programs and recruiting for investment banking and other divisions.
-Wells Fargo
-Citi
-JP Morgan
-Morgan Stanley
-Goldman Sachs

2018 Full-Time IB Recruiting Timeline Megathread Page
https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/2018-full-…
Can there be a thread for just non-diversity sophomores lol. Most, if not all of the above are for diversity sophomores in SEO and other third party diversity programs where recruiting is straightforward.
For non-diversity sophomores, it would be best to discuss regional or boutique MM/LMM banks that offer paid internships.
Honestly, if you want non-diversity you can either get lucky at MS or GS and apply and get a spot. Which good luck with that or you can hustle and network into a local boutique/MM by cold emailing and utilizing your alumni network. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of easy opportunities for sophomores to get experience, but there is plenty of opportunities if you are willing to send out 300 emails to firms ranging from NY to LA. Best of luck on the internship hunt.

the MS soph IB says it is primarily a diversity effort on the page. Just fyi
Does anyone know when Wells opens? for IB/ S&T
TheMagicConchShell Don't forget to add BAML to that list
Glad this thread got started up. And you can definitely add BofA to that list. I believe their apps open in August. A few guys on some other threads have mentioned that Soph recruiting usually takes place during the fall, but you may be able to leverage a return offer or another offer to try and get an earlier response, so we'll see how the timeline plays out.
Has anyone already applied to and received (phone/web) interviews for programs? I know a few spots are open for soph's, just waiting for GS to open up.
When things get underway, feel free to list: Diversity/Non Diversity, Target/Non Target, GPA, Freshman internship, & anything else that might be useful for comparison. Good luck boys.
I have a first round with BAML IB superday with Credit Suisse IB, Doug Paul Scholarship Program Diveristy/ Non Target GPA: Good Freshman Internship: Irrelevant to IB but still get paid lol Volunteer 150 hours per semester President of Club Club Soccer 4 Pre-Internship Programs/ None of them are BAML SEO
.
wait how are you diversity? if you're the person in your profile pic..
Great, looking forward to this
Does anyone have deadlines for any of these yet? I know a few opened but some are closed from last year.
Is this thread for rising juniors or for rising sophomores? Sorry in advance if that was a stupid question
Rising sophomores.
Thank you very much!
.
Search Fund Accelerator?
Can any of you guys list firms that recruit in the spring? I'm aiming for those small, obscure firms to get a foot in the door.
Citi hires non diversity
Citi non diversity sophomores? I can only find opportunities for juniors.
It may be only at target schools or not advertised as much. I think its their diversity program, but they accept some non-diversity. I had a first round and I know another straight white male that got the job.
Their sophomore leadership rotational as well as S&T both take non-diversity
If you want someone to push your resume, do you have to ask them PRIOR to submitting an online application? Or AFTER submitting an online application?
.
.
In terms of mentioning invidivuduals in your cover letter, do you really need to ask the person to just put use their name in it? Even if you're just saying that you've just been in contact with a person and not saying person XYZ recommended me.
I don't think you have to ask. It's not a big deal. I highly doubt they will check with the person, and even if they did ask "did you speak with so and so" your contact will most likely be like "ya he's a great kid". I've done it before with out asking.
Are y'all submitting cover letters along with your resume even when it doesn't explicitly ask? Or is this just for one specific firm's application?
What internship does Citi have for sophomores? I can't seem to find it...
they have a leadership program that I believe hasn't opened
Its open now! Just search 'sophomore' into the job search on Citi's website and it should be the only one that comes up.
...
apps might be closed by then
.
JP Morgan and Goldman also have summer internship programs for sophomores open. BAML will have one in August. Do not know about HL or Credit Suisse
.
Credit Suisse's Sophomore App was open back in March when they had their BA Explorer App. If you got into their pre-internship program you were automatically in their superday in August for Doug Paul Scholarship Program.
Does JP Morgan have a sophomore specific app or is it just the general "2018 Corporate & Investment Bank Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program"?
Can you add the application deadlines next to the company names in your op
Where do you apply for WF? Under their Wells Fargo Securities Summer Analyst Program, it says "Applications will only be accepted on August 25, 2017" so, to me, it seems like they aren't accepting applications right now. Just wondering because someone above said they were open.
Wondering same thing, I had similar problem
The one open July 12th only was for juniors while the one open August 25th is for Sophomores
Wells Fargo had an accelerated process where applications were open for one day for those who were invited with first rounds this week and last. But regular applications don't open till later.
WF has specific Sophomore Leadership Programs. The one in the fall is for diversity candidates only and includes a superday for IB/S&T. There is also one that takes place in March that takes non-diversity but is for their corporate lending internship. Also, the July 12th application was for full time recruitment, and the August 25th is juniors only.
I haven't began networking yet whatsoever, would it be wise to wait until I build some contacts that work at the firm THEN apply, or vice versa?
same question
The earlier you start the better. It doesn't matter. If you haven't applied yet you can express your interest for applying to such and such program. If you already applied, you can mention at the end of the convo that you've already applied to said program. It's up to them if they want to push you through.
Should a sophomore's cold email format be any different than junior/senior/MBA and up? I feel as if many analysts and MDs toss emails aside once they see "I am a current sophomore", or "second year", or "graduate c/o '20", etc.
If any 2nd years have found early email success, I'd like to know how they addressed this.
I dont include my class year and mention it once Im on the phone if its relevant.
Any word on DB? I can't seem to find anything.
I don't believe DB Achieve is open yet. Last year the deadline was in February, so i assume they will open a little later on.
Hey guys, what kind of work experience/activities do you guys have thus far?
"Wells Fargo will not sponsor visas for these positions, and will not hire individuals whose work eligibility is based on their F-1 or other student Visa status. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis."
So Wells Fargo won't consider international students for their Sophomore DIVERSITY Summit? Cool.
That's a lot of work for just a summit. Also, DIVERSITY, in this sense, means different ethnicities/backgrounds/sexuality, not locations.
Actually its no work. Unless I'm being employed full time or this is a paid internship they have to do zero additional work for me as an international student for this summit. And I'm well aware what diversity means in the context of this industry/general employment - I just found it interesting that potential URM students are denied from even applying to a 'Diversity Summit' just because they're international students.
Any non accelerated recruiting guys hear back from anywhere yet for interviews?
Applied to 13 positions and my app is still "under review" for all of them! I wonder when they will start contacting people
Where'd you apply to?

anyone know when the BAML sophomore program opens up?
I want to say I read some where August 1st. But keep checking.
So some of the rising Juniors have gotten Hireview's for GS IBD already. Any of you guys get anything? non-IB guys feel free to respond.
Rising sophomore who applied to GS IBD and I haven't received anything yet. My app says its been received (not that its under review)
^Same
Are sophomore 2018 BB SA applications reviewed on a rolling basis? Would really like to know, deciding if I should apply right now or wait until I start my fall internship.
I'm currently cold calling for a fall gig near my school, wondering the same thing.
UBS just sent out a wave of responses. (SA IB and SA PWM)
I was put on the backburner.. "your application cannot be further reviewed, we have saved your profile for future job openings"
probs because i'm a sophomore
Anybody know when DB and BAML open up?
BAML is either Aug 1st or 15th..
Is BAML sophomore program from IBD?
DB mid sept
Anyone see if BAML sophmore program open yet? I didn't see it
If its not up already, they said they would be posting them on a rolling basis this week, but the applications are not done on a rolling basis and wont really be considered until after the deadline.
Do you know which other banks consider their applications on a non-rolling basis as well?
Doesn't appear to be open yet
BAML Sophomore SA programs are now open: Program ID - 1500 is for IB check the career application portal
Bless up

https://campus.bankofamerica.com/careers/Global-Banking-and-Markets-Sop… This is the link for the program us rising sophomores should be applying for next summer correct?
yup
Thats Global Banking & Capital Markets. For IB its this - https://bankcampuscareers.tal.net/vx/lang-en-GB/mobile-0/brand-4/user-3…
That's not the soph program. That's for rising juniors.
Is the UBS CCS Sophomore Women's Program for 2018 open yet for anyone? I found the link describing the program and it says "Applications for our 2018 program will open in July 2017." but i don't see applications yet?
bump - same question. I emailed a recruiter but didn't get any response.
Anybody else get video interview invites from JPM / know what to expect?
Mine changed from app completed to application in review - have hireveus come out?
Mine says application in review and under the Video Interviews section it says CIB - Diversity Programs
Yes I got a video interview as well. I am not sure what to expect however. I'm assuming that they will be behavioral questions.
I received the video interview as well. Anyone already done it? or have any tips?
is it too late to apply or you guys are just early birds
Anybody know which firms have the "best" sophomore programs and give you the most meaningful work?
Also, has anyone received contact from Morgan Stanley if you applied in the early process?
Just take what you can get. Most sophomore classes are only 15-25 kids total per bank, so you'd be pretty lucky to end up at any bank as a sophomore regardless of what kind of work they give you. That being said, sophomores are there in the same capacity as Juniors, and they are expected to do the same work and produce the same quality of work.
Did early birds who got the video interviews just apply or did you have contacts at the places you applied?
i applied mid july, no contacts, and received an invitation today
Yes I had no connections at JP Morgan, just got GPA 3.7 cumulative and 3.8 in major.
Has anyone applied to BAML and completed the online assessment? I can't seem to find mine.
I believe that only for some applications you have to take an assessment but not all
Oh okay. Do you know if there is one for Sophomore Investment Banking?
Any chance anyone's heard back from JP Morgan Launching Leaders Asset Management? Seems like CIB has had some responses sent out.
.
I would would just try to get into the sophomore summer analysts positions. I have same GPA and had a wealth management internship this summer.
I just applied to Morgan Stanley, working on my application for others. I have a 3.7 GPA at a HYP, but had practically no internship for my freshman summer, just a really basic one that barely counts and a social media marketing one over the school year for a tech firm. I would count myself really lucky if I get anything decent (until like junior summer).
For the Sophomore IB BAML application, under experience/extracurriculars, what is really expected considering my resume has all of it? How detailed should I be when writing about them
I would not be very detailed. The resume is what they look at most importantly.

anyone know anything about Global Treasury Management, behavioral or technical?
Is there a cover letter required on the GS application?
I don't see any option to upload one
Anyone networking for BAML sophomore program?
anyone received "next steps" email shortly after BAML application submission? I haven't received one yet
Still have not applied yet, attempting to network internally. I believe that also BAML does not have rolling application review
I got this- Thank you for completing the first part of your application for the Bank of America Global Investment Banking Sophomore Summer Analyst Program - 2018. You will receive an email shortly with next steps. Please continue to check the Application Center My Opportunities drop-down for updates on the status of your application or if you have questions.
Isn't it just a confirmation email that everyone should have gotten
I got this too but it says "You will receive an email shortly with the next steps." I did not receive a follow up email with the next steps
Which applications have closed already? Lol is there any hope for non-diversity + non-target?
I don't think any apps have closed yet, its still fairly early in the recruiting process. These banks put more of an emphasis on getting Juniors first, then sophomores. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if most sophomore super days end up being around September/October just because they put 99% of their focus on recruiting juniors, then their 20-30 or so sophomore spots.
Just got the JPM CIB Risk video interview. It's 3 questions - can anyone speak to what I should expect?
I'm non-diversity/non-target rising sophomore atm fyi
Behavioral
So you took Risk? & thanks, will SB if true lol
Took CIB ib interview, it's why JPM+why IB, team, decision questions. Pretty standard. Anyone have any idea when they go to next round?
Video interview right?
.
edit. posted the wrong link lul
If a student goes through the recruitment process at BB bank as a sophomore, and doesn't get an offer, can it have any negative effects going into junior year recruitment? As in would it hurt an application during junior year given that the same student was rejected sophomore year at the same bank? Just curious, thanks.
bump^ curious about this too
curious as well! Hopefully not..
I have been told directly by alums that it may look negative if you networked a lot and got them to pull for you. This is mainly because they put their reputation on the line to go bat for you, and if you fail to get an offer as a sophomore, they think twice about backing you up junior year.
Of course, this is only relevant if you gst interviews in the first place. I have been told that it can get pretty heated in the recruiting meetings where bankers argue to try to get kids from their school offers. You can imagine how annoyed they could be if they put that much effort into you as a sophomore and bombed an interview with their colleagues.
In short, it hurts only if you use your alumni network extensively and you don't get an offer, as they lose trust in you as a candidate.
If I am trying to get someone to flag my application in HR for BAML should I apply before or after I have talked with them? Really not sure of the best way to go about this
does Deutsche have a non-diversity sophomore program?
