Canadian Lateral to NYC

Hi,

This form has been a great resource over the years and I am thankful for everyone who constantly posts to help other people. I am an associate at a Canadian big 5 bank looking to lateral to a US bank (either EB, MM or BB). I have one year of experience and decent deal flow.

I was hoping people could provide me with some information as to how to make the transition. Specifically, if anyone has gone from a Canadian bank to NYC I would love to hear how you did it and any general advice you may have.

Some questions I have:

*Are the Canadian Big 5 banks looked down upon in NYC at the EB, MM and BB?
*How effective is applying for jobs online for an experienced associate position?
*Should I be aggressively networking?
*What is the interview process like? How structured is it?
*Any other relevant information that may be helpful.

Thanks for your time everyone!
