Characters from 'The Wire'... On Wall Street

Gentlemen, like many of you, I am a big fan of the HBO program 'The Wire.' It is an entertaining, thought-provoking, and engaging show. Overall amazing; if you don't like 'The Wire' please feel free to go f*ck yourselves and go back to watching "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," this post isn't for you. I feel like many Wall Street pros such as yourself can definitely appreciate many of the underlying themes that the shows explore as you go through your careers and personal lives.

While I was sitting in traffic today, I was thinking about how many of the characters from The Wire would make great employees on Wall Street. I have put them below in the roles I feel each character would best fit and WHY (I think my explanations are pretty solid). *WARNING-Series spoilers below*

Stringer Bell - MD in an M&A group
Stringerrrrrrr! What would any 'Wire' reference be without String? In my mind, String has all the makings of a killer M&A group MD. As the series shows, String has a natural ability to identify synergies in the Westside-Eastside Baltimore Drug Trade, commencing the alliance between the Barksdale Crew and Prop Joe's co-op. Man also has a natural talent in understanding how drug gangs can use acquisitions to better themselves in the market. Guy is a NATURAL dealmaker; too bad he can't stay alive.

Bodie - BSD in trading
I don't know much about the hierarchy on a trading desk but I do know this: Bodie would kill it in the fast paced world of trading. Bodie's ability to pitch yellow-tops, red-tops, and all other kinds of White Girl would easily transfer to a solid ability to pitch junk bonds, options, and currency derivatives. Not too mention his aggressive attitude and cojones would make him the no-nonsense guy the other traders wouldn't dare mess with. This guy has BSD practically written all over him.

Marlo Stanfield - Private Equity Exec
When I think of a corporate raider bringing on dat LBO then liquidating the shit out of them, I think of Marlo Stanfield. The cunning technician of the Barksdale gang's ruin, this guy is not only ballsy, he's sharp af. He know's how to identify value and growth opportunity, be it a growing tech company or a W. Baltimore street corner. Not too mention he won't hesitate to flip the company for whatever profit he can. Ruthless, practically a hood Gordon Gekko.

Lester Freeman - Associate in Equity Research
Lester Freeman would be the perfect ER associate. His ability to dig into the problems faced by the major crimes unit and figure out what's really going on (like finding out where all the drug money goes). I think he'd have a real niche in ER.

Jim McNulty - Hedge Fund Manager Jim's unique style, ability to think outside the box, and philosophy on the world really would allow him to pull in some serious alpha.

Prezbo - Ops This guy did mainly data entry and numbers crunching for most of the first three seasons so I figure Ops would be a good place for him since that seems to be what mainly goes on there. Plus his nack for shooting other police officers on accident makes me think he's not really fit for a client facing role. BO it is for Prez.

Cheese Wagstaff - IBD Summer Analyst He's got potential, but just screws up too much to be FT so I think he's better suited for the bottom of the rung where he can be bossed around from a distance, be it in IBD or the Stanfield crew.

Obviously this is a discussion so I'd love to hear what you all have to say and where you think other members of the cast would fit. I had a few more but I'm kind of getting tired of writing so please add on.

I think you left out the obvious: Omar is the IRS. Not an agent or an executive, but the IRS entity as a whole. He isn't in the game but when "Omar coming" the BSD to the intern shit bricks.

Amen.

But Omar getting killed by that young one = ?
