Deferred admission to B-school because you are busy doing deals
Hey guys. I guess this is probably a weird topic, but after all the efforts, I finally got into IB. Now just before I got in, I also applied to Msc Finance to some B-schools in Canada ( didn't know I would get in IB at the time).
So I'm wondering in case I succeed with my applications, can I defer my admission until later because I just got into IB and I don't want to leave in just within a year just yet. The experience is unique too because it's an IB + VC shop. I understand B-schools explicitly state that they only allow deferred admission in exceptional case, so what I'm really asking is is being busy doing deals a compelling reason enough for deferred admission? I mean in this case they would be re-admitting someone they already admitted but with more experiences and hence have more to bring to the table / to the class, so that might be even better?
My background: I'm from a country in South East Asia, so "getting into IB" in my case is probably not the equivalent of getting into IB in the US. I would assume it would be less prestigious in most cases. My long-term goal is I would like to go to B-schools in Canada and do IB there.
Any of you who shared the same situation or have the knowhow on how B-school admission works would like to share? Thanks
If you were going to use B school to break into IB I would say it is pointless to go. Alternatively you could wait, leverage your experience in IB and reapply later to a better school/apply to a program knowing where you want to go long term.
I also agree with you on the last point. If you got admitted with your current profile, there is no reason why you would not break into B shool with some additional experience
