Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp - More information on this program
Can anyone that knows about this or has gone through it provide me with some insight into what it's like? Also, does anyone know how many people are selected for this?
Thanks in advance.
Bump. I would like to know too.
Also, has anyone heard back? My friend received an invite today at about 12pm (Cali time). I have yet to hear from them.
Too bad it's just for minority students. They should have events like that for everyone.
My friend is half white half Philippina while the app stated it was only for Black, Hispanics, and Native Americans. She got an invitation and I have read on other forums that non-minority students have previously attended the two-day program.
Just out of curiosity, what was the application like? Were SAT scores required?
No SAT's, just a cover letter and a resume. No interviews either.
And how do you get invited to apply?
Deadline passed (May 19). Research, research, research. I go to a non-target and I just googled like crazy to find a couple of programs for freshman. However, most had earlier deadlines and I was only able to apply to the GS camp (found it like 4 days before the deadline!).
Oh, alright. Was just wondering about it for next year. I'm starting college this fall
I heard back today at 3pm
Congrats! I hope I hear back from them soon. What are your stats, if I may ask?
He never said if he got it...
bumpin
I heard back from them the day I made this thread, but it's probably different for everyone, and yeah I did get it thankfully.

Did anyone else apply?
I just received my acceptance via email (1:07pm EST), however that's the same weekend as the Prudential PEAK Leadership program. Which one should I attend? Both are fully-paid and great experiences.
As someone who attended PEAK, I definitely recommend it over the Goldman Camp. I have friends who attended the Goldman one, and I don't think any of their experiences were nearly as beneficial as mine, especially in terms of networking. I'm definitely not as good at networking as my friends who attended the Goldman Camp, but I met probably 3x more MDs and VPs that I still keep in touch with. I know that the Goldman one probably seems more useful, but trust me, PEAK will help you way more. It's helped me so much in recruiting this year and I probably couldn't recommend it enough. Let me know if you have any questions about it!
Goldman, of course. Its a great stepping stone to securing interviews @ GS Soph/Junior year
Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp - Freshman at a non-target (Originally Posted: 05/16/2012)
Hi there! :)
I will be a freshman this upcoming fall, although at a non-target. However, my school is well-know, but still a non-target.
I have been using LinkedIn and what not to meet current employees at GS, my dream company.
Also, I had access to the alumni database and saw currently 2 alums from my school are MD's at GS, and another 5 are full-time analysts.
Anyway, I am a minority, Native American, and I researching opportunities on GS's website, and I ran across "Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp", targeted to assist minority students (AA, Hispanic, and NA students).
However, I didn't see an application on the website. So, does anyone know where I apply for this program? Also, is networking important for this program? I plan to network, regardless.
Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Does OP even know what an investment bank is?
the undergraduate camp is for current freshmen.
OP, in your own words, explain to us what an investment bank does?

Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp - Any info? (Originally Posted: 05/03/2008)
Hey, Did anyone else apply and get accepted/rejected? For some reason my status on the website is empty. It went from pending to completely blank a few days ago. Any info on when they let us know?
Thanks
I'm sure they have completed their summer recruitment by now
I think the summer camp is not an internship, but a URM event. I would email your school's recruiter. It won't hurt.
shte is right.. i will probably email if i dont hear back but im still waiting
anyone else?
My application status is also blank, I think they are in the process of reviewing them and will update them soon.
guess so.. g/l
info from last year - "but i do know that last year the application deadline was may 1st, and applicants were supposed to hear back from GS by may 9th. i found that out by searching here on CC. so if they're going by the same schedule, maybe we should hear from them early next week."

I got an Email asking me to apply for this thing, but is it only for blacks, Hispanics, and Native Americans? Or is anyone allowed to attend? The Email i received is very vague.
then be vague about your ethnicity brah
Maybe it's a come on. Could be for the "Proud to Be" candidates. I say go with it.
Alright thanks guys i applied for it. Hope i get in, sounds like it would be an amazing experience.
You're not black?
ya its only for 11-13 year old pacific islander lesbians i checked
Just say you're 1/16th native.
If you're desperate enough, tell them you're gay in your cover letter. It might qualify you for one of their LGBT programs.
It's a networking event. They fly you up to NYC, put you in a hotel, and show you the firm for a few days. It's a good way to get your foot in the door for accelerated and regular interviews for the following recruiting season.
Why are you guys throwing MS at me!? I asked this question because i read an old WSO post that said it was for only for minorities, specifically blacks, Hispanics, and native Americans! And that didn't make sense to me so i wanted to clarify. Thanks for your answer moneymogul.
You have gotten 33 monkey shit and you have yet to reach 50 banana points. Perhaps you should look at your own posts rather than blame others?
p.s. no I wasn't one of them who gave you the MS
i did this program. there were definitely non-minorities there. that means non-LGBT people, non-1/16th native american people, etc.
and it's def a good way to get your foot in the door..a lot of those kids ended up at GS or some other BB.
Cool, do you know what they select people based off of? And how hard is it to get in?
When I applied it was just a resume upload. So the usual GPA, extracurrics, experience, etc. I got in from a non target but was unable to attend.
Interested.

I don't even see the Event on the Goldman website any more.
Do you know anything about that Gay Pride event?
Do they have any methods for checking who's gay and who's not?
xD
.
hear back yet? I haven't. what do they do to reject me?

Why don't you ask them? You do have phones in Canada, right?

citizenship isn't an issue, but the camp is for kids studying in the states

Hi Im thinking of taking part in Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp 2010 in May and of course I've already registered.
But there are some problems; 1. I'm Japanese. I heard that the camp is for those who study in the US. 2. It costs much to go to New York. I'm really worried if it's really worth taking part in the camp just for 3 days.
I want to know what you think about these problems, thank you.
Did you get a spot already?
Thanks for commenting. I have only received the confirmation message from GS which I think was automatically sent. Do you know when I'm going to receive that?
No, I don't. But I wouldn't worry about this camp or whatever as long as you don't have an invite.
thx again for replying Im really worried whether its really worth spending much money... I gotta fly to NY from Tokyo just for that 3-day camp
If you are Japanese you don't qualify for UGC. It is for African Americans Hispanics and Native Americans.
thank you for your kindness I thought it's for all minorities and japanese are part of them.
what an idiot
Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp - Just got the email (Originally Posted: 05/05/2010)
Just got the email saying I'm invited. Feels good.
are people supposed to say congrats?
No, just seeing if anyone has done it before and can give me some info on what to expect.
looks like a future gekko imo.
What race are you?
congrats man, see you there
I'm also in! I don't know if I can attend because I have 3 finals within that 3 day span
Anyone get the email they said they would send today?
i ve been checking my email all day long, without any luck.
I haven't heard from them yet... does this mean I'm rejected? or should I wait? do they reject me just because I'm a student at UTokyo which is not an American univ?
I guess ill see you guys there after receiving the confirmation emails today. Join the facebook group (goldman sach undergraduate camp 2010)
Wait so for people from the metro area, there are no hotel accomodations for us. Doesn't the event end at 6pm everyday, or is it mandatory that we stay over those two nights? More info would be appreciated ty.
