JP Morgan Investment Banking Junior Analyst Full Time Program
Currently a senior at a semi-target school and completed a summer IB internship at a lower MM firm. I heard about the investment banking junior analyst program for JP Morgan, and I was wondering when recruiting for this full-time program would start. Anybody have any insight? Thanks!
I don't remember exactly, but last year the application opened up around December / January I think. They had a typical hireview sent out which was a couple of behavioral questions, mainly regarding why JPM and why this junior analyst position. Best of luck!
Out of curiosity, are these training programs ONLY offered to students or do young adults with (non) relevant work experience have a chance as well?
I guess young adults with non relevant work experience could technically apply, but it'd probably be easier for current college seniors who have some IB experience.
Has anyone heard back yet/have insight into the timeline? Thanks
Anybody know when applications opened?
I believe it opened 12/15
Just check this JPM's junior analyst program job posting. They do not sponsor work visa..Frustrated
Ahh i heard JPM does sponsor visas.. is it for sure that they dont sponsor for this position? :( anyone know any international student who got accepted in the previous years maybe?
tbh i don't know; i just saw they stated 'authorized to work permanently in the US'
Did anyone receive first round/hirevue interviews? Is it for sure that they dont accept OPT for this position?
What's OPT? Regarding VISA, all the Junior Associates at JPM I met in North America were there with L-1 visa or H1B (and F-1 maybe). Therefore, you either work for JPM out of North America for 1 year (and then they transfer you with a L-1 vista) or you study in the US, get a traditional student visa which expires 1 years after graduation and you hope that you win the lottery for the H1B (if you don't but you are already employed by JPM they transfer you out of the country for 1 year and then you get back with the L-1). They don't sponsor visa at entry level (either associate or analyst).
On background, the people I met came from Private Banking / Middle Office at JPM (both US and Internationally), CGR at JPM (i.e. their banking support team in India), Middle Office / Capital markets at other banks (including Citi and BAML), semi-target / non-target schools with no summer internship (e.g. Babson).
thanks for the comment! OPT is basically the permission for me to work for 1 year after university. When you say Junior Associates, do you mean MBA level people? Have you met any international students who got in through this particular junior analyst program?
Did anyone receive their first round (phone screen, hirevue)? Only received an invite to complete some personality test so far.
Same. But I have heard from others that HirevVue has been sent out
Did someone you know receive a hirevue interview or did you hear about it from HR?
did you receive an interview yet?
Did you guys receive interviews yet?
No, the internationally people I saw as Junior Analyst were coming from JPM abroad (e.g. Private Banking in Singapore). With Junior Associate I meant Associate 0 (i.e. first 6 months) and Associate 1 (from month 7 to month 18).
Has anyone heard anything about this position (other than pymetrics), and anyone know what the timeline is this year?
interested as well. I also feel like I did poorly on pymetrics. Not sure how much of an effect it will have on the evaluation process but still..
Is it possible to do poorly? I saw one of my friends go through some of the games, and it seemed like there were multiple strategies you could use on couple of the games, like going high risk / high reward or very safe and low payout.
Just saw on LinkedIn that applications are longer being accept. Hopefully new about the next round comes soon
When was it posted? I applied last night.. damn does that mean my application didn't get through
bump bump bump. someone please tell me when they stopped accepting applications
I saw on LinkedIn around noon EST today. Can you still take the Pymetrics test? I wonder if you just barely beat the cutoff since you technically applied last night.
I was told by someone who is currently a JA that an AI screens all applications for "Key Words" and the "Pymetrics Results", and because of this nearly 33% of all applicants are cutt right off the bat. I'm sure that as long as you submitted your application on time you are eligible as a candidate. The JA program doesn't seem to be on a rolling basis, so as long as you submit your application prior to Jan 27 you stand the same exact chance (I applied December 14 and haven't heard back). From my understanding networking doesn't even matter until the matching stage. Good luck!
Hey guys, anyone have any details on the program ?
What do you guys think they're expecting out of Pymetrics? Anyone use this, specifically for IB and even more particularly IB at JPM, and know how it will be used?
Share you guy's reports reading as your strongest?
Mine were:
Internally motivated Skeptical Attentive Attention Duration Master multi-tasker in flexibility for switching between tasks && A planner
From what i understand, JPM has recorded the results from star performers in trading, sales, and banking and derive correlations between certain traits and job results. Star salesmen, for example, demonstrate low attention spans and distractibility. Recruiters then look for these traits in new hires.
Considering that Pymetrics is new to JPM, I don't believe there's much weight placed on the results.. for now. I would imagine, though, that being extrinsically motivated, attentive, a multitasker, thoughtful, etc are all traits that demonstrate a good fit for banking. Your results seem like they fit the bill, more or less.
Anyone received an interview yet?
Are there any other opportunities similar to this? I feel like most places are done with recruiting... Wondering if there were any banks that have late recruiting or offer internships for graduating seniors .
Just went up on my school's career site. JPM posting says accepting applications until 1/27. Curious what others who have applied have heard since completing pymetrics.
Nothing as of now. I have heard that some people got hirevue interviews but not sure. Are u a graduating senior?
Yeah. You?
Originally the application was suppose to close on Jan 14 with notifications going out Jan 21-24. Now with the extension to Jan 27, I am assuming we would hear back early Feb
I wonder why they pushed back the deadline. I would imagine that they have received thousands of applications by 14th.
Maybe statistics wise? So they can say 100,000 people applied and they only accepted so and so to move on to the next round.
That's the vibe I got from them anyways...

I've spoken to a few current JAs. Normally, their incoming class is around 36-40 JAs, but they a JA can also be someone who applied internally and is coming from a completely different division, such as Private Banking. They signaled that more than 50% of the JA class would be internal hires, but that more or less historically the number is split evenly between external candidates and internal.
Have they by chance indicated how many of the external candidates are experienced hires vs. recent graduates?
Has anyone's application status updated on the portal? Or has anyone heard back?
My profile says it was updated but still reads "Application Received" as it had prior to today
--
Just checked mine and it says "application reviewed". Looks like the ball is finally rolling.
My status says "Application Reviewed" and I received the Hirevue invitation earlier this afternoon.
Status updated to "Application Reviewed" -- just got an email to complete a Hirevue
Also got Hirevue. Nice username btw
Great minds most think alike -- what were your group preferences? HC/Tech/Consumer
Just got the hrieview as well, some ironic timing lol.
Just got the hirevue, applied on the 26th on a whim LOL
Got the HireVue as well! Break legs everyone!
Which one of us is going to take one for the team and fill everyone else in on what questions they ask?....
anyone's app still say application received?
Yeah, but I'm not confident. It could be rolling, it could not be.
I can confirm 100% that previous 3 years were not rolling basis. LevFin used to run a seperate process and extend offers by late Jan but not sure how LevFin is running the process this year.
Yes. When did you apply? I applied on January 14 but apparently people's applications submitted later have already been reviewed.
26th. See comment below
yeah my still says received. Not sure if they will ever review it lol
Is the HireVue invitation sent to every applicants (in previous years)?
Non-Target Hardo. Applied 26th, status application recieved. but not recieved HireVue yet.
My target friend (correctly pronounces ‘EBITDA’) also applied on 26th with application recieved status and did not recieved HireVue invite yet.
Thanks!
Did you apply on December 26 or January 26?
Back to the visa sponsorship issue (that someone raised earlier), does anyone feel that if a firm will almost definitely reject an applicant (because the applied position is super junior and the applicant needs sponsorship and there's no way they sponsor visa for an Excel monkey), the firm should NOT invite them for test/ HireVue interview? There's the "I will need visa sponsorship" in the application already, the firm can just cut them all.
Same concern here. I think this position won't consider international students since on the job description it says something like 'Authorized to work in the US permanently' I applied anyway but I stated clearly in my application form that I am holding F-1 visa now and have 1-year OPT after graduation. But I guess they just automatically cut my application? I haven't received the Hirevue after completing the Pymetrics (I applied on Jan. 15 and my application status as of now is 'Application reviewed').
Well I applied for the position in London and there's no "Authorized to work in the UK" in the list of requirements but the chance for them to sponsor visa for an Analyst position is almost nil, and I'm not even a student in the UK (another European country) so double-nil. Yet I still get aHireVue interview invitation today, even though I clearly select "I need visa sponsorship" in my application (don't judge me I applied when I was high on caffeine) and it's nearly impossible for me to get hired anyway.
What I mean is they really shouldn't give applicants false hope.
Did you receive any interviews? I am think I was cut-off. Also an international student.
yeah since we're international students, I don't think they are giving out interviews to us. My application also says reviewed now, but I didn't get any hirevue invitations. Sad but what can you do..
Same here. I applied anyways. I applied on January 14 and my application status still says "Application Received". Anyone's still say the same or everyone's applications have already been reviewed? lol
My application was updated a couple days ago, says "Application Reviewed", and I did not get Hirevue. Looks like it's a wrap for me
Non-target, got HireVue today. Probably won't hear back for another 3-4 weeks. Applied Jan 10th.
Anyone's application still says "Application Received"?
The HireVue process will differ from city to city. The NY applicants will have to go through these. The other cities will focus on other routes. If your application says "reviewed", you most likely did not pass through the first round.
I applied to NY and my application still says received. I am a bit concerned because people who have sent their applications after me have already gotten interviews.
Do you mean application Reviewed or Recieved?
Applied for NY Chi and SF. app says received. Haven’t heard about hirevue
Still waiting. You recieved HireVue around 5pm?
I'm waiting as well. Application received, no contact from JPMC.
i think he meant the application says received.
My application got reviewed, but I didn't receive an interview invitation. i guess that's a wrap for me.
Any idea what the timeline on this process will look like this year? I’ve seen older threads on this position say that Superdays aren’t til March/April. Is it still hirevue, then a couple phone interviews, then Superday?
There was a short matching round process post superday lastyear abd year before. I know a couple guys who got dropped off from the process because no group took them
Can you expand a little on the matching process?
Did u get a hirevue interview?
Yes, completed the hirevue yesterday
To what extent would networking help in this process? It's HR who looks at the resumes and hirevues to determine who should get a phone interview?
Yeah, I wonder how having someone within JPM who can endorse your application could possibly help...
This is a purely HR driven process through the Qualtrics Exam and Key Words from your resume. Unless you have an MD or ED pulling for you, I doubt networking means anything.
Are there any other banks that are still recruiting 2019 graduates? It feels like everything is closed
Brother, instead of spending all this time on WSO, start reaching out to anybody from your school to see if they can help you. Hell, they dont even need to be from your school. And stalk LinkedIn and Indeed for open analyst positions.
off-cycle isn't ideal but spots open up on occasion and you're gonna want to jump on these. There are probably thousands of kids like you and I doing this right now.
Did anyone receive an interview today?
Do others’ portal still say “application received” or had their status changed today? Does the review stage take a period of days or if we haven’t been reviewed yet we can assume we’re out of it? Appreciate any insight
Mine says received still. A friend at JPM said the JA program is mostly for recent grads w somewhat applicable finance experience but not IB experience and not for college grads.. fyi
Thanks! Wouldn’t you expect everyone’s app to be reviewed/screened at least? If it said reviewed and no hirevue was sent out I’d take it to mean that’s the end of it but was hoping that if it still said app received that that implied it was still going to be reviewed lol. Appreciate your insight
[]
What were the HireVue questions that everyone got?
all behavioral for me
How long did it take you?
Past threads have stated that they have all been behavioral so I wouldn't expect that to change. Definitely don't count on anyone giving the exact questions on this thread though considering we're all competing for the same position.
Simple walk me through your resume type questions
How much time to answer each qs.?
Still no change in application status?
-
More than enough time
Logically speaking, how does an algo review some applications and auto ding/auto advance, but not review all applications? Isn't this tech to front-load the entire initial screening process?
--
Where do you fall in this? This also doesn't answer how it looks at just 50 or 70 of 100 applications. Maybe there's some computer error for the remaining 30 that needs to be manually bumped one way or another?
Agree, you’d think they would all be screened at once but it’s weird that some still have “application received” vs “application reviewed” Not sure if it even means anything at this point but who knows
Yeah.. hard to know for sure. One thing that always gives me some degree of resolve is more communication is always a good sign, less is always a bad sign.
Well y'all have one less competitor after that video interview -- best of luck
Damn.. dinged already?
Hi super dumb question but if it's "2019 Corporate & Investment Bank Investment Banking Analyst Program" and "start in June" then does it mean June 2019 or June 2020?
2019
Has anyone heard back from the HireVue interviews, yet?
Has anyone’s application portal status changed after the hirevue?
The deadline for the HireVue is this coming Sunday, so I doubt anyone is going to receive an update in their status prior to then.
--
Just curious how do you know deadline to complete HireVue is Sunday? HireVue email says complete ASAP and doesn’t specifically mentions a deadline
Did the Hirevue and my application is still "under consideration". What's the difference between completed, under consideration, received and reviewed?
Did anyone get a positive response already?
Also: Which other banks are still accepting job submissions for FT analyst roles?
Bump! Any insight would be huge thank you in advance!
So, I am not sure about the specific updates on the portals regarding the application. But, someone I know spoke to a campus recruiter from NY that said that this years process will be expedited and location-centric.
I guess that's good, but I am not entirely sure.
.
Which locations did you guys apply for?
NY, SF, Chicago
I think I can clarify on the different application statuses. I applied for London IB FT.
Submitted the application -> application received 2 weeks later got HireVue -> application reviewed Submitted HireVue -> application completed 1 month later (no email update yet though) -> under consideration
No one in the other thread which is mainly London has heard back. Hope this helps! Keep in mind processes will differ from location to location.
what questions did you get?
Don't remember to be honest, it has been already a couple of months for me... sorry
though it depends..because for corporate dvpt i got feedback after consideration and i didn't qualify ie after 4 days, but for wealth management now its a week no feedback and its under consideration
Is the Hirevue three of four questions?
Anyone from NY, Boston, SF locations still have application in "Application Received" status? Trying to get some clarity here.
clarity: either there's a second wave of invites going out, or you're not going through. If they had a filter in place to check that you meet some bare minimum in your Pymetrics/application qualities, maybe your app was never triggered because you didn't.
They have already clearly stated two filter levels: 1. be someone who shows potential and 2. fit within their standard of what a JA is and you can move forward. Maybe you didn't get past the first.
Or, maybe there's a second round of invites going out. I think you can 100% assume it's one of those two things happening right now. Only other thing you can do at this point is just wait.
I was busy during Pymetrics test and clicked a bunch of random buttons and got the worst feedback possible and still got a hirevue... Pymetrics doesn't mean shit
Thanks for clarifying. What is "their standard of what a JA is"?
What were the HireVue questions? Would be a huge help, thank you!!!!!
Think we all are competing for the same process.. No? Lol! Review the guides and you should be fine.
Doesn't mean that you can't share findings. If you're confident in your responses then... Nothing lol
Hirevue is all behavioral. Make sure you read the journal before taking it.
Whose journal?
The one I authored :D

LevFin has been interviewing for the JA position since November is what I've heard from classmates. Everything else just started interviewing. Super day will be this month. I know many people that have had phone screens already- go to a target school.
