JP Morgan Investment Banking Junior Analyst Full Time Program

Currently a senior at a semi-target school and completed a summer IB internship at a lower MM firm. I heard about the investment banking junior analyst program for JP Morgan, and I was wondering when recruiting for this full-time program would start. Anybody have any insight? Thanks!

Out of curiosity, are these training programs ONLY offered to students or do young adults with (non) relevant work experience have a chance as well?

Ahh i heard JPM does sponsor visas.. is it for sure that they dont sponsor for this position? :( anyone know any international student who got accepted in the previous years maybe?

What's OPT? Regarding VISA, all the Junior Associates at JPM I met in North America were there with L-1 visa or H1B (and F-1 maybe). Therefore, you either work for JPM out of North America for 1 year (and then they transfer you with a L-1 vista) or you study in the US, get a traditional student visa which expires 1 years after graduation and you hope that you win the lottery for the H1B (if you don't but you are already employed by JPM they transfer you out of the country for 1 year and then you get back with the L-1). They don't sponsor visa at entry level (either associate or analyst).

On background, the people I met came from Private Banking / Middle Office at JPM (both US and Internationally), CGR at JPM (i.e. their banking support team in India), Middle Office / Capital markets at other banks (including Citi and BAML), semi-target / non-target schools with no summer internship (e.g. Babson).

I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.

"Jerry-Su1" Did anyone receive their first round (phone screen, hirevue)? Only received an invite to complete some personality test so far.

No, the internationally people I saw as Junior Analyst were coming from JPM abroad (e.g. Private Banking in Singapore). With Junior Associate I meant Associate 0 (i.e. first 6 months) and Associate 1 (from month 7 to month 18).

I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.

interested as well. I also feel like I did poorly on pymetrics. Not sure how much of an effect it will have on the evaluation process but still..

I was told by someone who is currently a JA that an AI screens all applications for "Key Words" and the "Pymetrics Results", and because of this nearly 33% of all applicants are cutt right off the bat. I'm sure that as long as you submitted your application on time you are eligible as a candidate. The JA program doesn't seem to be on a rolling basis, so as long as you submit your application prior to Jan 27 you stand the same exact chance (I applied December 14 and haven't heard back). From my understanding networking doesn't even matter until the matching stage. Good luck!

What do you guys think they're expecting out of Pymetrics? Anyone use this, specifically for IB and even more particularly IB at JPM, and know how it will be used?

Share you guy's reports reading as your strongest?

Mine were:

Internally motivated Skeptical Attentive Attention Duration Master multi-tasker in flexibility for switching between tasks && A planner

From what i understand, JPM has recorded the results from star performers in trading, sales, and banking and derive correlations between certain traits and job results. Star salesmen, for example, demonstrate low attention spans and distractibility. Recruiters then look for these traits in new hires.

Considering that Pymetrics is new to JPM, I don't believe there's much weight placed on the results.. for now. I would imagine, though, that being extrinsically motivated, attentive, a multitasker, thoughtful, etc are all traits that demonstrate a good fit for banking. Your results seem like they fit the bill, more or less.

Are there any other opportunities similar to this? I feel like most places are done with recruiting... Wondering if there were any banks that have late recruiting or offer internships for graduating seniors .

I've spoken to a few current JAs. Normally, their incoming class is around 36-40 JAs, but they a JA can also be someone who applied internally and is coming from a completely different division, such as Private Banking. They signaled that more than 50% of the JA class would be internal hires, but that more or less historically the number is split evenly between external candidates and internal.

I can confirm 100% that previous 3 years were not rolling basis. LevFin used to run a seperate process and extend offers by late Jan but not sure how LevFin is running the process this year.

Non-Target Hardo. Applied 26th, status application recieved. but not recieved HireVue yet.

My target friend (correctly pronounces ‘EBITDA’) also applied on 26th with application recieved status and did not recieved HireVue invite yet.

Back to the visa sponsorship issue (that someone raised earlier), does anyone feel that if a firm will almost definitely reject an applicant (because the applied position is super junior and the applicant needs sponsorship and there's no way they sponsor visa for an Excel monkey), the firm should NOT invite them for test/ HireVue interview? There's the "I will need visa sponsorship" in the application already, the firm can just cut them all.

Same concern here. I think this position won't consider international students since on the job description it says something like 'Authorized to work in the US permanently' I applied anyway but I stated clearly in my application form that I am holding F-1 visa now and have 1-year OPT after graduation. But I guess they just automatically cut my application? I haven't received the Hirevue after completing the Pymetrics (I applied on Jan. 15 and my application status as of now is 'Application reviewed').

Well I applied for the position in London and there's no "Authorized to work in the UK" in the list of requirements but the chance for them to sponsor visa for an Analyst position is almost nil, and I'm not even a student in the UK (another European country) so double-nil. Yet I still get aHireVue interview invitation today, even though I clearly select "I need visa sponsorship" in my application (don't judge me I applied when I was high on caffeine) and it's nearly impossible for me to get hired anyway.

What I mean is they really shouldn't give applicants false hope.

yeah since we're international students, I don't think they are giving out interviews to us. My application also says reviewed now, but I didn't get any hirevue invitations. Sad but what can you do..

Same here. I applied anyways. I applied on January 14 and my application status still says "Application Received". Anyone's still say the same or everyone's applications have already been reviewed? lol

The HireVue process will differ from city to city. The NY applicants will have to go through these. The other cities will focus on other routes. If your application says "reviewed", you most likely did not pass through the first round.

Greed is Good

I applied to NY and my application still says received. I am a bit concerned because people who have sent their applications after me have already gotten interviews.

Any idea what the timeline on this process will look like this year? I’ve seen older threads on this position say that Superdays aren’t til March/April. Is it still hirevue, then a couple phone interviews, then Superday?

Brother, instead of spending all this time on WSO, start reaching out to anybody from your school to see if they can help you. Hell, they dont even need to be from your school. And stalk LinkedIn and Indeed for open analyst positions.

off-cycle isn't ideal but spots open up on occasion and you're gonna want to jump on these. There are probably thousands of kids like you and I doing this right now.

Thanks! Wouldn’t you expect everyone’s app to be reviewed/screened at least? If it said reviewed and no hirevue was sent out I’d take it to mean that’s the end of it but was hoping that if it still said app received that that implied it was still going to be reviewed lol. Appreciate your insight

"Henri Poincaré" From a design perpective, the difficult part of building a system like this takes place where you draw the lie between good/bad candidates.

It’s easy to tell the system “put through the Harvard kids with 3.9 GPAs” and to tell it “reject the UofPhoenix applicants who have 1500/2400 SATs.” It’s harder to automate a process for the 3.6 from Emory.

I would bet they have auto-accept intervals, auto-reject intervals, and an interval in the middle that passes borderline candidates on for further review.

Where do you fall in this? This also doesn't answer how it looks at just 50 or 70 of 100 applications. Maybe there's some computer error for the remaining 30 that needs to be manually bumped one way or another?

Agree, you’d think they would all be screened at once but it’s weird that some still have “application received” vs “application reviewed” Not sure if it even means anything at this point but who knows

Yeah.. hard to know for sure. One thing that always gives me some degree of resolve is more communication is always a good sign, less is always a bad sign.

So, I am not sure about the specific updates on the portals regarding the application. But, someone I know spoke to a campus recruiter from NY that said that this years process will be expedited and location-centric.

I guess that's good, but I am not entirely sure.

Greed is Good

I think I can clarify on the different application statuses. I applied for London IB FT.

Submitted the application -> application received 2 weeks later got HireVue -> application reviewed Submitted HireVue -> application completed 1 month later (no email update yet though) -> under consideration

No one in the https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/jp-morgan-2019-ibd-video-intervi…</a">other thread which is mainly London has heard back. Hope this helps! Keep in mind processes will differ from location to location.

Don't remember to be honest, it has been already a couple of months for me... sorry

"MoreMoneyMoreProblems" Anyone from NY, Boston, SF locations still have application in "Application Received" status? Trying to get some clarity here.

clarity: either there's a second wave of invites going out, or you're not going through. If they had a filter in place to check that you meet some bare minimum in your Pymetrics/application qualities, maybe your app was never triggered because you didn't.

They have already clearly stated two filter levels: 1. be someone who shows potential and 2. fit within their standard of what a JA is and you can move forward. Maybe you didn't get past the first.

Or, maybe there's a second round of invites going out. I think you can 100% assume it's one of those two things happening right now. Only other thing you can do at this point is just wait.

LevFin has been interviewing for the JA position since November is what I've heard from classmates. Everything else just started interviewing. Super day will be this month. I know many people that have had phone screens already- go to a target school.
