I always thought they looked dumb but my MDs use them and love it so I guess they're good. They say the classes hype you up and are actually pretty well put together. I'll never buy one but I can see the appeal.

Advantages: cardiovascular fitness

Disadvantages: hilariously overpriced bike

It's overpriced garbage and promotes chronic cardio. Get a $100 stationary bike. Do 12 minutes of HIIT sprints. Get stupendously better results. Save an hour.

what goldie is referring to is people with an unbalanced routine. if your only form of cardio is biking, your body will reflect that (shit posture, tight hips, everything he said already), but if it's part of a well rounded routine, no big deal!

yes, biking alone sucks, but biking alongside weightlifting, swimming, hill sprints, long walks, running on sand, kickboxing, rock climbing, etc., is fine. anything done without variety can be bad.

my beef with it is it's a bike, smartphone, and motivation system all in one for a price that's (in my opinion) ridiculous. if you need all that, great, but if you were starting from scratch, I'd see if you do OK with just a regular gym membership and then dole out more coin if you're having a hard time with discipline.

Hey the pro is that it can help you get better at cycling which is a pretty affluent sport!

But yea cant imagine dedicating all fitness $ spend and time on something so specific. Cardio and certain leg muscles will improve. Upper body strength, other leg muscles, flexibility, etc. all wont be helped. This would be like buying a barbell and a bench and just repping out one exercise every day.

Cycling has its place, it's better than nothing, and if you are overweight then by all means use it to lose weight. But you wont look anything like the instructors that peddle this shit.

I'm not sure if you are trying to get me to rage about the IPO they are about to do - I'll abstain.

Otherwise - I've heard good things about them, if you are willing to stomach the monthly membership and price tag. It's effectively an in-home personal trainer, on a bike, that you can turn off if they get annoying.

There's one in my office gym, been meaning to try it out.

"acebedograce71" Greetings! I will be getting a peloton bike from https://www.used.forsale/peloton-bike. What do you think are the advantages & disadvantages of this? By the way, I'll be using it for my weight loss exercises.

I’ve never used a peloton specifically, but am a big fan of indoor trainers. I might be teaching indoor cycle classes starting next month. So I’m definitely a fan and have a lot of fun training indoors.

If you’re into weight loss, maybe consider Intermittent Fasting and then breaking the fast on the bike with some shakes and stuff. The pounds should fly off.

Rowing machine is ok but cycling is really superior.

I got myself a Concept2 last year when covid first hit. Did that a whilst lock down. Its a good cardio workout but I now dread it and find running or biking much more enjoyable.
