Recruiting at Vista Equity Partners
Hi WSO,
I'm interseted interviewing in with Vista Equity Partners (SaaS Software Private Equity Firm) for a Private Equity Analyst role. How do I reach out to recruiters? Does anyone know if they have any recruiting events? How/who should I network with?
Also, are there similar firms I should consider as well?
I'm a new grad at software engineer at a Big 4 tech company (Facebook, Google, Amazon, Netflix) with M&A.
spie2005, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Sometimes bots are smarter than humans anyways:
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Look for online applications or contact someone you know there is your best bet. You could try cold emailing people there asking to keep your resume on file, but PE recruiting (especially at a big shop like Vista) will be extremely competitive with most people having more of a direct finance background
Hey,
Thanks for the advice, appreciate it.
Since this is a first year analyst role, targeted towards new grads (https://www.vistaequitypartners.com/our-firm/careers/?jobid=503212&loca…). Most applicants don't have full time work experience. Do you think I would still be at a disadvantage? Is there anything I can do to make myself a better candidate?
Also do you have any other advice for networking. I'll definitely cold email anyone I can find on linkedin at the firm. I've heard they have invite only networking events -- would you have any idea on how to get an invite to those?
They do invites for target schools I think. Do you know if their class of 2020 PE program takes analysts for NYC or California? It looks like only Austin TX and Chicago from their postings on website...
Yeah there was a target-invite info session in NYC last week
@ Laka As far as I know their 2020 PE Analyst Program only hires for Austin.
Would you know how I can get an invite to that? Is there a recruiting coordinator I can reach out to about getting into these info sessions?
The advice here is actually horrendous. Don’t harass recruiters. The current application is live. It’s a resume drop, and they invite for interviews based on the cognitive scores. It’s for current seniors only, hence the 2020 grad program, hence the very clear specification in the description that you must be a current senior. Lateral hiring is later.
I would also add that I have spoken to a reasonably close friend of mine who is a VP at Vista - he told me that networking has little to no effect on their recruitment
Recently completed the cog. assessment - has anyone heard back post the cog assessment? or know how long they usually take to get back to you?
1st rounds were already released

Anyone hear regarding NY super day this weekend?
Be careful as Vista will have some challenges when the tech bubble pops. They're hyped up as much as SoftBank right now. It's the SoftBank of PE - too much capital raised too fast
You do realize software was one of the best performing sectors during the global financial crisis?? Assuming there is a recession coming, which is plausible, id feel more comfortable with that sector than most others, hence vista raising 16bn from LPS a few months ago
SoftBank and Vista couldn't be more polar opposites. I don't even consider SoftBank a real tech platform, just a bunch of dumbs throwing money at things that sound cool. You could not possibly be more wrong.
