hey silly query re. buying, selling and rolling cds indices (e.g. CDX etc). can you buy protection from 1 counterparty (eg. bank 1) and then sell that protection to another counterpaty (e.g. bank 2) if you decide to roll the cds protection (e.g. buy protection in new contract and sell protection in old contract) with a new counterparty (e.g. bank 2) into a new series?
