1 year as analyst ---> Associate offer?
Making 110 base and probably ~60 bonus as a new analyst 2. Have an offer to become an associate at another bank despite only 1 year of experience. Base would be 150k and ~100k bonus.
Is this a no-brainer? I like my coworkers currently, hours will be similar at both places. The appeal is accelerating my career a bit and obviously higher pay, but am having a hard time leaving.
if they are giving you associate it must be a large downgrade in brand name tbh. no reputable firms on the same level would do this unless you're some sort of god.
It is actually a more reputable firm. It is a niche industry with lean teams. They are higher in league tables than my current team.
Hmmmm, interesting. I mean, I quite honestly don't know why you wouldn't take this offer. Associate after 1 year analyst stint is very good.

Do u have what it takes to be a good associate? Not trolling but obviously the expectations at the associate level are way higher than as a first year analyst
Not going to point out the differences between the two roles but there are key skills that need to be developed and perfected before jumping to Associate.
Tell that to many clueless MBA associates…
Obviously I’m taking about a A2A associate not an MBA associate… expectations are quite different
Not sure how that would turn out for on-cycle PE recruitment, off-cycle can still give you decent results
If you want to stay in IB - take it, no brainer
If you wan to go to PE - do not take it, the ASO title will kill PE opportunities (so much so that people voluntarily do a third year at analyst to recruit)
Could you explain why ?
