Are Moelis hours still bad?
The title says it all. I got a lateral offer for Moelis NYC in one of their coverage/M&A groups. I already have 1 year of experience at a BB and I'm thinking of doing a year at Moelis, then just going to PE after. Just wanted to gauge if the hours are still 100+ each week on a frequent basis. Any insight is welcome here.

If you've already done a year at a BB why not just start recruiting for PE now instead of jumping to a whole new team just to jump again in another year? Do you dislike your current coverage group? Getting pushed out? Need more context, at face value seems kinda pointless.
I was laid off 1.5 months ago. PE recruiting has been slow for me. Only got 1 PE interview so far that didn’t result in anything.
Not sure if PE roles might open up more in Q1 2024 so that’s why im conflicted here

If it’s HC Services you are just jumping from a frying pan straight to the stove. Will have a PE offer after though. But I also don’t know if you’ll survive if you got laid off - likely wasn’t top of class.

The hours are most likely 9-6 (pm to am) (source: my third cousin applied for SA) with a bit more happening near Hanukkah (steal market share from Jews)

No, HC services Rx and m&a can be pretty sweaty but on the whole Moelis is generally not any worse than other banks (source: first year analyst in NY coverage group)
