Accepted an SA 2022 generalist offer with IB NYC but don’t know so much about the different groups. Which are considered the best groups at BofA? Which have best placement into PE?

The best groups for PE exits are FSG, LevFin, M&A, and REGL. FSG has the strongest placement to MF/UMM, followed by M&A, and then LevFin (mostly to credit funds). REGL is the best REGL group on the street and has sent most of its analysts to real estate MF.

You have to understand that analysts from all those places will get the same PE interviews.. it’s up to you to convert them to offer. This forum exaggerated the importance of bank/group way too much
missing HC
BofA HC isn’t that great from an exit point of view. Let’s be honest here, most coverage groups like HC, C&R, and TMT don’t execute M&A in-house and thus have a slim shot for MF/UMM. Still terrific groups though

BofA LevFin (or LevFin in general) is one of the most overhyped groups. It's a very strong group in the space, but people overestimate PE exits from strong LevFin groups. MM IB would be better than BB LevFin for PE exits.
