BNP Paribas in 2020 & Desk Choice
Hey Im an incoming S&T summer analyst in BNP NYC, recently finishing the desk placement survey. Wondering if there are some better groups in the bank and the future of BNP in USA...Any insights would be much appreciated. Thank you.
BUMP, interested as well
I heard Equity Derivatives are strong at BNP
Consumer for sure
anything exotic, anything derivative, the less vanilla and more complex the product, the better BNPP is at it
Thank you. How about structured credit desk like CLOs? Do you know if they are doing pretty good this year amid COVID?
I've heard this is true for SocGen also.
Why is it that the French banks dominate this space?
I think it is because France is home to some of the best quant & STEM universities in the world with a few specifically being business focused STEM programs , and because of this the french banks have put a lot of resources and recruiting efforts into expanding that side of business, now they are amongst the best. They seem focused on building brain power in complex areas, since they know they will never be able to compete globally in M&A and other areas like that. Just my opinion based on observations, never worked at a french bank
might be biased because im on a structured products desk so i say hell yea but yes they are good i recommend going that route with them 100%
Thank you sir! I am placed into that structured desk and will try my best for this summer.
