Bringing in a Deal as an Intern
Has anyone heard of people doing this to score a top internship? How can I go about doing it myself? Any advice appreciated!!

Is your last name Kennedy or Rothschild or Trump or anything like that? Oh that's right, if you were, you wouldn't be asking this question on WSO. Then you can't. Just keep sending those cold emails.
Happens all the time. The ones that are getting the deals are the kids who really go above and beyond even the FT analysts. They usually only go home to change their clothes. They are constantly on the phone with PE funds (MM and MF) and are giving MD updates about every 12 hours (email works best past 3am).
Then they wake up and realize they have no idea what they are doing, and don't get a return offer.
i heard that if you can't bring in a deal by the end of your internship, you don't get a return offer
Have you heard of deal sleds? You can't expect to close deals if you aren't wearing deal sleds every day. Gotta walk before you can crawl.
Internship missions : Find new deals (Originally Posted: 10/13/2017)
Hello everyone,
I started my internship in a small french boutique few weeks ago. I am currently doing ''normal'' M&A intern missions.
We have one of our clients who wants to sell his company. One director of my boutique asked me if i wanted to find buyers for that potential deal. He told me normally interns don't do that but it seems that i have great communication & sales skills (at least in french^^). What I will have to do : 1) Preliminary screening on excel 2) Show the screening to directors. Then they are going to select few companies 3) contact the shortlist (either cold calling or email). I will have to introduce your firm, services and see if we can work together for the deal 4) follow-up 5) set up meetings
He told me I can do that for 1 to 2 hours a day if I want for that client and some other clients as well.
Do you think this type of mission is relevant? I want to do my next internship in a MM shop or a BB.
thank you guys (sorry for the typo, I don't have the english corrector on that computer)
It is very relevant. You'll be doing the same exact thing during your analyst years in a MM or a BB or anywhere
