Capstone Partners Denver Office
Saw Capstone Partners has a Denver office, considering a lateral move there because them and Petrie seem to be the best shops in Denver.
Does anyone have any insight on their comp, particularly at the ASO2 level and up? Do they have a hybrid work model? Are there particular teams placed in the Denver office?
Thanks in advance!

Comp is roughly one level lower than street. So a VP at Capstone makes what a street ASO does. An ASO makes the same as a street Analyst. Analysts make Big 4 money...
Firm has a lot of momentum and I like where they're going, but the pay is a serious concern.
Appreciate the info! That's honestly a severe haircut, would hope that their culture/WLB is top-tier in order to justify that...
Just through the grapevine, I think Capstone is your typical "Denver bank" some long nights here and there, but generally you will have a better WLB than NY.
I have never heard of anyone in the Denver market speaking with Petrie - seems like the way to get in contact with them is to connect with their Houston office.
Culture is great - very loose on the WFH policy. Had to take a week out of office because I had a cold and beyond the occasional "you okay?" text, I was good to go.
The staffer is super nice, and everyone in the Denver office gets along pretty well. Not too many fire drills or crazy late nights, and if you are good, you can knock out most your work in reasonable hours.
I will mention that if you are in Denver this is not an atypical comp structure. Some of the bigger banks do right size associate and VP comp, but Denver will generally have much lower pay across the board. I know there are some boutiques that have abysmal pay. I have a buddy at one shop that seems to be paid fairly well - no comment on the exact range, but lives in a nice part of town and has not made comments about comp being low at his firm.
is he at FMI by chance?
I'm seeing multiple people on LinkedIn at the Denver office who have accelerated timelines...i.e. less than two years as an associate and promoted to VP, etc. Can anyone offer insight behind this?
Adding some info to this chain.
The ceo of capstone partners is brutal.
Walks around giving people the shpeal “if you want to be like me when you get older” “I’m an M&A expert”.. etc.
Banned white business casual sneakers from the office and got into a verbal altercation with one guy who didn’t get a new pair yet.. he was fired 2 weeks later.
He also hired his drinking buddy’s son as a VP who admitted “he doesn’t know how to model”
Hired his daughters boyfriend who is inept
Sneaker part is honestly kind of funny
Lol good to know. Any insight on comp / hours / WFH flexibility?
Depends on the office.
Denver is great, no wfh Fridays in their Boston office unless the CEO is on vacation (he takes a lot of em tho)
