Do BBs issue computers to analysts?
There was a recent thread about mac vs. thinkpad, and it got me wondering whether I should buy the type of computer for my personal life (mac) or something more compatible for work if I have to use my own. Thanks.
Not for analysts. Your in the office at all times, why would you need a laptop?
DB gives most of their analysts laptops, but I heard they are starting to switch over.
You'll get a thinkpad of some sort... some receive laptops, others desktops depending on your firm. Either way you'll have 2 monitors (docking station for your laptop could be one). If you ever need a laptop computer for a meeting and don't have one, the IT guys will let you borrow one, no need to go out and buy a work computer, you'll learn to hate your "new" one they give you.
This totally depends on the bank and the office. I know that MS does not but CS does.
DB and WF and CS all give laptops during training.
BB analysts here gets laptops. They're only your's while you're w/ the co.
I'm in the same boat. Trying to decide if I should buy a cheap thinkpad before training. Starting as an analyst at a BB in a couple of weeks.
i work as a SA at a MM firm and we get laptops too... i think it's pretty standard, cos my roommate at a BB gets it too... usually lenovo thinkpads..
