How difficult is it to be sent from the Us to another major banking city..i know a lot of people who get hired out of college to work in another city, but what about if you are already working in the USA?

I mean international..not necessarily within USA
Go ahead and suck your boss off, it may help your chances.
even if its within the same bank..just thier foreign location
usually a foreign transfer is a demotion or promotion. at least that's what i hear from friends in S&T.
i am not sure of your question
transfer internationally w/in the same bank..if i am working for BofA securities in Boston and i wanted to move to BofA sec in London or Singapore..etc..how hard is it..
How to get a career abroad? Becoming an expat (Originally Posted: 07/03/2012)
I'm interested in the career path of some Americans who ended up working abroad in Zurich, Paris, London or whereever in Western Europe.
Does going to a European MBA like IMD or LBS help a lot? Or is it still impossible to get a Visa despite going to those schools. (off-topic is Imperial MBA a good one to get recruited for finance despite it being only a 1 year program?)
The economy is so tough and having been at Imperial College for a year and knowing a Russian friend in the MSF program who had to go back to Moscow because no one in London would give him a Visa (He worked for Citi too) is depressing.
I would appreciate some insight.

Is obtaining dual citizenship an option for you? Do you have lineage you can follow in your family to have EU citizenship recognized? This would obviously help tremendously, as the potential employer would not have to sponsor you for a Visa.
Have you considered working for the US entity first and trying to get a placement abroad, ie secondment or long-term placement?

Would say that it can be tough for a junior person to get put on an expat package overseas. Ultimately, the primary reason an employer will send someone abroad is because that person can offer a skill set hard to find in the local market.
If you are a generalist it can be tough. If you want to work abroad and can handle local pay scales, that can be easier to do. But generally an expat package compensates for the hardships of living abroad.
Unless you are going to South Africa there is nothing outside the US that is a hot M&A market that is not dirty and crowded as hell.
I1Beast, you're a fool. Have you ever been to Hong Kong? No? How about London?
South Africa? I'm from South Africa, the economy there is horrible and collapsing, and very anti-white, good luck getting a job there with all the BEE and affirmative action.
If you wanted to up and leave your company and work locally, Australia is a good bet. For some reason people over here tend to believe you more if you are American working in business. Much smaller industry than HK etc though.
But yeah as PlaneBanker said, you will only be sent abroad if you have something special to offer taht location that they can't get themselves.
Roguebanker, what a load of crap, I am a white South African male, and had no problem getting a job in leveraged finance at a top bank. If BEE has done one thing, it's weeded the weak out of the country.
Are you kidding me? Is that why 1 million White persons have left South Africa, because jobs are easy for them to get? Weeded people out? What the hell are you talking about? Do you even know what the fuck BEE is? You keep living the false dream you denialist. I hope you enjoy kaffirmative action.
I agree with Ryan, competent people still get great jobs. In fact I would go as far as saying that most people in IB/PE are not BEE placements. Most analyst programmes are quite diverse much opportunity for everyone. Plus all the people that stayed in SA are getting good pan-African IB exposure.
I'm not a BEE candidate and I'm doing pretty well in IB. I'm glad to be part of an emerging market success story.
Listen chachi, the fact of the matter is every half competent person I have come accross has the job they want. Do I know what BEE is, yes dickwad, I live in SA. Do you?
I left that shithole 2 years ago, I hope you enjoy your stay you liberal faggot.
And where do you work? Citigroup SA in Sandton? Even the richest part of SA has horrible fucking crime. Hope you aren
