Finra exceptions to statutory disqualification due to felony
I'm a student at a target school looking to enter the business. Last year I was convicted of a felony (vehicular homicide) which can't be expunged for 7 years. Nothing else on my record. I'm aware that in 09 sec/finra decided to statutorily bar anyone with any felony from the past ten years rather than only honesty related crimes. However, they provide an avenue for "special permission" to associate by filing a "MC-400" despite this that is described on their website here:

If I knew this was your attitude, I would never hire you even if I was 100% convinced the entire thing was an accident. I'm sure the family of the person(s) you killed aren't worried about your job prospects. I hope this is just a troll post.
Wait is this for real? A conviction for vehicular homicide is going to screw you just about anywhere, so you can probably forget consulting as well. I dont think I would trust the advice of someone who made such a poor choice in their own life that they caused the death of another individual.

Honestly - There are a million other kids out there looking to get into banking who are less risky to hire than you, so even if you were able to get an exemption from the regulatory authorities, no bank would take a chance on you.
How are you not in prison right now?

im not a troll, unfortunately this is for real. im very sorry for what happened and am very remorseful. my BAC was below .08 but im under 21 so they still consider you intoxicated, which meets the legal threshold for recklessness, which sustains a vehicle homicide conviction bc I was at fault in the accident. nothing intentional about this, which is why im not in jail. it was basically a underage DUI that ended in a horrible tragedy.
obviously I have to accept the consequences of all this. im just tryin to gauge my chances for a banking/consulting career i hav a very strong network in finance so that will help, but i still have to face facts. going foreign seems like a viable option at this point, the whole point of this thread was to see if anyone knew of someone who had received an exception from finra
Sorry and remorseful are the same thing.
Underage drinking and driving == no shot at a role in any kind of conservative/prestige oriented firm like banking, consulting, or law. You'd never even make it to FINRA.

Ok so the OP probably can't work in banking here in the US but can't he go to firms in Hong Kong, London, or Tokyo and work there?
How good are the background checks for banking overseas?
I get it. He killed people. But he said it was an accident so his entire IB career shouldn't be screwed by a one-time thing.
