Free Resources to Learn Modeling/Excel/PPT?

Landed a 2021 Summer IB placement around a top BB group but have pretty much zero finance background (liberal arts school) beyond a couple Coursera courses and knowledge of current events. I understand no intern will truly “run the model” or anything past pitch book work, but I want to spend my time practicing what I’d do day to day as a full time analyst past their six months (when ideally they should be doing real work)

What are some great online resources to help teach me how to navigate Excel specifically for IB (like making a M&A model of two companies) and PowerPoint?

Also how do analysts plug into the process of other activities such as IPOs and Capital raising? Is it still mostly valuation stuff or? I just have no idea what “doing the grunt” work actually means and wish it could be demystified a little. Thanks!

WSO has modeling courses. They also have a way to apply for financial aid if you need help covering the costs. Wall Street Prep and Train the Street both have modeling course too.

For your second question. Usually you wont be plugged into a deal in any important role but will be given small parts on a deal and as you prove yourself your role will be more important.
