Help Please I am in a bad situation
I am a 2nd year female student at a non target in the Chicago area. Originally following the pre-med track and did a lot of hospital volunteering and research. Through the hospital volunteering, I came to realize the gloomy future of medicine and I am no longer as interested going into the field as investment banking. Although, my concern is that I am at a non-target where no banks are recruiting. I heard that it is rare that people are able to break into I-Banking from non-targets and most of them have to resort to going into accounting... This is really disheartening to me. I feel like I have no other option now but to go back on the pre-med track as my non target school and lack of internships have basically pigeon-holed me into it. Can any of you guys offer me advice?
Sounds like you don't know what you want to do and are just chasing the dollar. If you are passionate about medicine, the money will come whether or not you think the future of medicine is "gloomy".

I am kind of late for transferring because I missed the deadline for Junior year target transfer schools.
Your situation is oddly similar to mine. I was on the pre-med track for 3 years before I realized that medicine was not for me. I made the switch to Finance, even transferring schools, to a non-target nonetheless. The transition was difficult because I forced myself to take a heavy course load to make up for lost time. However, with dedication, it was doable and I found myself easily motivated to keep working. I found an internship, studied to do well on the GMAT and am now applying to MSF programs to help with networking, brand name, and recruiting into IB firms.
Not saying this is the best path or even the path for you. But just thought I'd share my journey; it's been a bit of a roller-coaster but it's working. I'm now happy and seemingly on my way to the career I actually want. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk further.
