How do hipsters afford to live in NYC?

This is no troll. I read in the paper and online how rent is around $2,000 a month in NYC. Now these type of people generally find jobs in art, fashion, retail, etc... so how can they afford to live in NYC? I dont get it

most hipsters are college students or recent grads meaning they are still on their parents' dime (more if they're still in college). Some parents probably just find it hard to cut their little baby off from their wallets.

Remember, once you're inside you're on your own. Oh, you mean I can't count on you? No. Good!
