How much do senior bankers in capital markets make?
I know analysts/associates tend to make about the same in IB vs capital markets, but how big is the difference at senior levels? I've heard answers everywhere from it's a 10-20% haircut to VPs in capital markets only make 300k. Anyone know?
The former is more true, but depends on the group. Seniors in groups with higher revenue generation (perhaps TMT ECM vs Industrials ECM, for example) will net higher bonuses. Groups with more specific products like Liability Management (DCM) or Convertible Bonds (ECM) can also take off in good years.
Also, just so you're aware, $317k is the average all in comp for BB VPs as self-reported by WSO users (n=41), so "only make $300k" isn't quite an accurate thing to say anyway.
Does that 300K figure include bonus?
That's because people abuse the salary database by posting bogus numbers just to get access. If you made $317k as a VP at a BB, you're getting canned. The base salary itself ranges from 250-300.
My director made ~900 this year all in - BB ECM Origination
That's fat, good for that BSD. What industries does he cover in ECM?
This comment really made me cringe.
Did he just tell everyone how much he made?
