How to quit ASAP post Bonus?

As title says, I would like to quit ASAP after my bonus hits. Our bank apparently has at least a 2-week resignation policy (not entirely sure though, as this is not something I would just ask HR...)

My bonus is supposed to hit June 23rd, but I've already booked a flight for July 1st (going on a career break and not changing it, fuck it).

I know that if I claim that I'm going to work for a competing bank (and not exiting to PE), my access to the bank network gets cut-off the same day.

Should I do that? I just want to leave right after my bonus...

Firstly, do you have any unused vacation days? You could always try to use tho. Alternatively and possibly smarter, just say right after you get your bonus you have an offer from a competitor and want to give notice. Most banks will terminate your employment on the spot and not make you work the two week notice unless you are severely understaffed.

Congrats!!!

That is my main plan, to say I’m going to a competitor. However, would they not check my LinkedIn and know that I’ve lied and is actually unemployed? Does it matter if I lied to get out of the 2 weeks?

Don’t change your LinkedIn? If you’re on a break don’t even touch it for a while. I promise HR isn’t keeping track of who they fired 6 months ago unless something came up. In addition, people sometimes don’t update their LinkedIn even for a while.

Lastly. You could always go with the offer revoked route. You owe no verification

Yes a lot can change.....Including the payment time of that bonus. Mine never got paid on the same date twice in my entire career.

Also, I've heard it so many times.....just need that one more bonus and I'm out of here.....20 years later, you're still at the same spot. If OP can stick it out for 9 months, I bet he sticks it out much longer and never take the trip.

I mean I hope the dates don’t change compared to the prior years, and no matter what I’ll wait for the bonus to hit my account before my resignation, whether that would ruin my trip start date or not.

Oh buddy, no matter how good this years numbers are I’m out for sure…

Do not announce your departure until after bonus actually hits your bank amount - they may try to claw it back if you leave
