How to transfer to NYC

I am currently an analyst at a US bulge bracket in an office located outside the states. One of the decent offices (think London, Hong Kong etc.) I was wondering how hard it will be to transfer internally to the NYC office?

My office is full of analysts/associates from the states and elsewhere who transferred internally. I just want to know how easy it is to go the other way?

Any success stories of transfers to NYC from international offices would be appreciated. Otherwise if anyone could suggest the best way to go about organizing this it would be appreciated!

Talk to your manager.

If you have two years of experience working for him and he has liked you enough to keep you all this time, stop worrying. He will try to help you.

If not, you need to talk to your finance industry friends back in NYC. I had a friend who worked at my firm in London who wanted back in the states, an old friend at another BB in NY who was looking to hire someone, and we were able to line everyone up.

Thanks for the advice. If it's that easy I'll give it a shot! Just hope he doesn't take it the wrong way.. Otherwise my life will be hell for a while
