How're new first years feeling?

Just hit 2 months, entering my 3rd month. Range of emotions I've felt- accomplished, incompetent, embarrassed, excited, anxious, stressed. I've made a couple of stupid mistakes that I really have stressed hard over but I'll be sure not to make them again. Idk, I feel like I'm just kind of going through the motions. I don't really know what I was expecting but corporate life kind of sucks.

Hey there! It sounds like you're on quite the rollercoaster ride, which is totally normal for a first-year analyst. Remember, it's part of the learning curve. You're bound to make mistakes, and that's okay. The pressure to be perfect can be overwhelming, but it's expected that you're still finding your footing. The key is to not consistently make the same mistakes over and over.

Over time, you'll become more accustomed to what to look out for. Little things like formatting adjustments will become second nature and glaring, whereas now you're probably searching really hard for them.

Corporate life can indeed be tough, especially in the beginning. But hang in there! It's all part of the journey. And remember, it's okay to feel all these emotions. You're not alone in this. Keep learning, keep growing, and most importantly, keep going!

Ngl things have been really slow on my end. One week I hit 90hrs and the rest have been super chill (50 hrs). Maybe things will pick up but in general M&A has been slow. Most of the companies we have mandates with don’t want to do anything until the “noise” has died down, which translates to not moving forward until January
