HSBC LAF - thoughts?

Looking for insight on HSBC’s Leveraged & Acquisition Financing desk. I’ve already utilized WSO’s search function so I am acutely aware of the banks reputation on here. I have an offer on the team and given it is a major balance sheet bank I assume their franchise is marginally decent and could lead to better exit opps? (Credit is credit regardless of where you go right?).

Thanks everyone

Currently in HSBC, its HSBC's Leveraged Finance Arm.

Exit opps are credit funds of all sizes and BB IB never seen MF PE/HF before. Comp is at market but they lost money in FY 22 so I think your bonus next year will be shit.

Was at HSBC and know for a fact one former analyst in London moved to Carlyle. On another point, guys let be aware of the fact that:

a) Not all people want to go to a MF, even if offered

b) MF offers are just a few and driven by a lot of factors includin luck / timing etc.

c) In Europe languages matter

As such is not if you are at GS you go to a MF and if you are at BNP you don't. It is much more complex than this.

To wrap it up, HSBC in London may be weak in some verticals however with regard to LAF is a very solid as a bank. If you like LAF, i would say go for it.
