IB SA Resume Walkthrough

Been hearing mixed conflicts on this but:

When you are going into your background for a summer analyst interview - some people have told me to give a very short concise answer with very brief mentions to things on your resume while other have said to make detailed statements on your rationale from internship 1 to internship 2 to why ib sa is your next logical career step. For people who have been successful in sa interviews - what has been your approach?

I typically do Name Major School Hometown and why I choose to study major How I got interested in ib (for example a class I took and noticing that I was interested in news about company transactions) what I’ve done to show this interest like programs and internships (so I do only relevant internships and experiences not everything so it can be concise and straight to point. I also make sure to highlight skills in previous experiences that can be useful in ib) Let them know how all these have brought me before them for the interview Sometimes a fun fact to lighten the mood

Hope this helps

When you talk about internships in your story do you describe projects you did in each one and how they led you to pursue banking or do you just say something like, "I did internship in xyz (ex: boutique hedge fund) and another internship in (boutique ib) and through my experience I wanted to pursue IB.

Here's what I do, the banker will say "tell me about yourself" so I'll start at a high level with my name, hometown, school, major, minor, on-campus involvement, and hobbies. Then, I'll stop and say "So that's a bit about myself at a high level, but I'd be happy to speak more specifically about my interest in finance if you'd like." I do this cause some people wanna hear a ~1min spiel on my story, and some could care less.
