If full time does not work out...
should I just extend my stay here one more year and try to land a summer internship ( i go to a target on the west coast) ? Would I be looked down upon if the same people that saw my resume for ft hiring and then again for summer internships?
Thxs
i'm curious to know this as well! My resume kinda leaves lasting impression, though not because I have impressive work history or activities.
That is something that you are going to have to decide for yourself. Staying for an extra semester is an option, but there are no guarantees that recruiting will be any better next fall.
I did it and landed a summer gig at a regarded West Coast MM shop. If you're set on banking and doing another semester/year is an option for you, I would suggest it. You will have to have a good story about why you need the extra time at school (mine was that I was an engineer) but if you spin it right you won't be looked down upon relative to your more junior peers.
But wouldn't it be awkward if the same people that just went over my resume about 2 months back see my resume again? I'm thinking that since this recruiting is really bad, should I just pull out my applications and just stay an extra semester? Seems like a risky thing to do, but might as well...damn market.
Simple As... you are right in that we can't predict, but I am pretty damn sure that I can beat out a lot of these junior kids in terms of work experience as I have two relevant internships.
Haha man, if you make a good impression but don't land the job, I can't imagine them looking negatively on you if you come back and try again a few months later. Bankers are aware of the hiring environment and they'll probably acknowledge that you're serious about the industry. Go ahead and give full-time a shot, best to get your career started sooner rather than later and if it doesn't work out you can try again, plus you'll be even more prepared.
yea its getting pretty bad. Two banks removed their ft recruiting postings on our ocr website.
anyone else have a view on this?
if at first you dont succeed try try and try again...
on a serious note though... think of it this way at the very least if your resume is air-tight and your knowledgable you are building rapport with the recruiters and have an advantage over the new names...
if you dont have the wits and personality to play the game stay on the bench
oh and ps... never waste a disaster
look how many cliches i just used lol
