iPhone

So, the new iPhone is out, supporting Microsoft Exchange and everything else that the corporate IT depts requested. Steve Jobs said that 5 largest sucurities firms and 5 largest commercial banks participated in beta testing of the iPhone. Does that mean we'll see analysts carrying around iPhones instead of BB's soon or do you think that lack of keyboard will prevent this from happening?

I have both. Honestly, I think the iPhone is a cool toy, and I like the google maps feature, but as a phone it's garbage. First, AT&T, which may be good elsewhere in the country, absolutely blows in New York. AT&T coverage is quite a bit worse than Verizon (I literally cannot make calls inside my apt unless I'm standing next to the window; prior to my iPhone I had a 4-year old Samsung phone on the Verizon network and had significantly better coverage all over the city).

Also, something's up with the volume controls on the iPhone. Even on max volume I can't hear a damn thing without using headphones, but if you use headphones (either the white ones or the bluetooth headset) then the person on the other line can't hear your voice because volume from the street, busses, etc. drowns out everything else. So basically I can only have a proper phone conversation if I'm at home, standing by the window, with all the doors shut to cut down on the noise. Because that's convenient.....

So I could never use the iPhone for business. That said, this should be a pretty easy fix for Apple and from what I've heard it's a pretty common complaint.

Skins1 - I used to have the same problem with the iPhone's volume. Talked to a few people and found my solution. Problem is that lint and dust and other shit gets into the headphone jack and blozcks the sounds at the top of the phone. Do this: stick your headphones in and out of the phone repeatedly 10-15times, blow in it, and repeat as necessary.

Worked like magic for me.
