Is this Strategic Finance Offer Insane? Banking exit
Thinking of quitting IB on the spot rn (I hate it and my group is very sweaty and toxic) because I just secured a pretty decent offer. It is $140k base + 30-60% bonus, hours being 9-7pm. I am 24. Thoughts on this? Is this normal for "strategic finance" roles? It is not at a tech company btw.
Very good offer considering the job market. Even in 2021, I would say that comp structure is fantastic for someone with 2 years of experience (~200K). A lot of 'boring' non tech companies pay really well for these type of roles vs. tech nowadays.
Thank you! I appreciate the response.
I know every company is different, but wanted to hear your thoughts on strategic finance roles overall. What are typical exits like, what is pay progression usually like, etc if you had any insight. Do you think it is possible to go from IB > Strategics Finance > VC eventually?
I guess it can be? Sorry, not all that familiar with VC recruiting.
are you asking about the comp or asking about the job itself?
Both I guess if you don't mind. Assume comp is very very good. What are your opinion on strategic finance roles in general? Typical exits, pay scale, etc thank you so much.
What kind of firm is this in terms of location or industry? Seems significantly over market, so really curious as I am also looking for strat finance based roles.
Thanks, it is non tech and in NYC.
Damn very nice, didn't know non-tech offers were that high. If you don't mind sharing, would love to know the size of the company and what type of firm you were at. I am at a BB looking into strat finance/corp dev and all the things I have seen are a bit lower in base and materially lower in bonus, so just want to get as much insight as possible.
In IB rn and am interested in moving into Corp dev or strategy. That offer is pretty insane in my opinion. Would def take that offer especially in this market. How big the company?
Ditto, also curious about size. Also, is this company PE / VC backed?
multiple $bn in revenue, PE backed
This is the dream after ib for me is getting comp like this common?
Hi I’m in a similar boat as you. Thinking of quitting on the spot and want to Strat Fin. Would you be able to chat more about your process and how you went about it? Please PM me.
