Jersey City vs. Brooklyn
Which area is better if you are working in the city? Looking for more affordable areas outside of Manhattan so wanted to know the perspective on these two areas.

Live in Hoboken and love it. Work at a bank in Fidi so my commute is 20~ min door to door. Jersey city same thing assuming close to the water. Have a big apt and pay $2,200 a month and no city taxes. No city tax is a huge plus for jersey city over a borough of the city
If you’re in midtown, commute is tougher but it’s not unreasonable.
Do you take the PATH or a ferry? Really only 20min from Hoboken to Fidi?
I live by exchange place and pay slightly more than Hoboken but my commute to FiDi in the morning is literally 7 minutes (PATH), and I too don't pay city taxes. Its great
Brooklyn. Probably a similar vibe between both places but just stick to NY. Living in jersey will make dating/meet ups hard. No one is going to commute to jersey and wait 20 minutes for the path late night. I grew up super close to Hoboken/JC and I hated Hoboken (if you like basement frat vibes you might like) and found jersey city boring. Also JC waterfront rentals (close to the path) are not cheap anymore… you could always do closer to journal square but that’s a very ugly area (gentrify)
