JP Morgan IB

I had my last interviews with the executive directors of JPM on June 27th. I sent an email after 10 days asking about the next steps. After 3 days, the associate/staffer called to explain that the final say will be communicated by the beginning of next week. As the end of the week is approaching, should I send an email or assume that I didn't get the job?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some steps you can take:

  1. Follow-Up Timing:

    • It's generally a good idea to follow up if you haven't heard back within the expected timeframe. Since the associate/staffer mentioned that the final decision would be communicated by the beginning of the next week, and it's now approaching the end of the week, a follow-up email could be appropriate.
  2. Email Timing:

    • Send your follow-up email on a Monday or Tuesday morning around 10 am. This timing helps ensure your email doesn't get buried and is read when people are most likely to be checking their emails.
  3. Content of the Follow-Up Email:

    • Keep your email polite and concise. You can express your continued interest in the position and politely inquire about the status of your application.
  4. Persistence:

    • If you don't receive a response, consider following up again after a week. Persistence can sometimes make a difference, as noted in the WSO threads where following up has helped candidates stand out.
  5. Alternative Actions:

    • While waiting, continue applying to other opportunities and networking. This ensures you have multiple options and don't put all your hopes on one position.

Here's a sample follow-up email template:
